I love lightening stormss!
And boy have we had them this week!
It started Saturday morning, 9 am, BLAM and the entire house shook!
Immediately followed by another BLAM!
And another,
And another!
For 1.5 hours this place sounded like a war zone!
The house shaking.
The trees and grass blades all lighting up a gorgeous golden color!
The skies grew dark
And the rains come!
Wow!
Probably the best display I have seen in Washington State!

Snow
Let it snow,
Let it Snow,
Let it snow!
Ho-Ho,Ho,HO!
Yes it is that marvelous time of year when we get annual allotment of big fluffy frozen rain flakes!
So beautiful, so calming.
I can remember sitting as a child in the inn in Basel, a big mug of steaming cocoa. My window seat was sort of an alcove, quietly nestled off to the side, a 180 degree view of the street. My sister found her Archies comic books more interesting than watching snowflakes, people slipping and sliding and dumping their roasted chestnuts all ove the street!
I stayed here so often, the service staff all knYeah, good times,
Warm memories.
I wonder If I got some cocoa mix?

Unpleasant Sunday
I did not sleep well on Saturday night.
A huge storm kicked up about 1:00 AM.
Winds in the 60 to 70 miles per hour range.
So, after a day of rain, trees coming down around here are a given.
What we were not prepared for was the main TRUNK line being taken out by a falling tree!
About midnight, I was awaken by the screams of the kids across the street.
Not unusual, they are always getting drunk and screaming in the wee hours.
Around their nightly campfire.
Large bonfire, high winds .....
Yeah, you can see this one coming!
Kids set on fire, fences, yards, trees!
Yeah, a non drunk would have seen that one coming!
So, the winds roared for hours,
The kids were put out and boo-boo's medicated,
Trees came down,
Knocking out the power to most of the area!
Even Oldest Daughter, 49 miles away, had no power as well!
Local stores had to throw away their frozen and refrigerated goods,
As long as you were not looking for fresh food,
They had it in stock!
Even my Youngest Daughter's bakery was forced to toss much of their inventory,
Or be busy baking the held goodies!
Yeah, she will be late coming home today!
Slowly power was restored to the area on the main north-south drag route.
But, not quick enough for church to be in session.
It would have been nice to attend a service without wailing guitars and keyboards!
Yeah ... the utter bliss of it!
By noon, they had power to the town six miles away, so we had lunch there.
By two, our shopping district had power, but they were busy throwing away food!
By four, the house had power.
By six o'clock, warmth in the house,
TV and cable devices reset,
The rains came .....
I was able to get one large garbage can filled with broken branches
(and didn't I just do this last week?).
Having one of the few cars not stuck due to downed trees and branches,
I get to run people around in the neighborhood!
So, as I sign off,
I am off on an Arby's run for the neighbors!
Might get a gyro while I am at it!
So, from the wind whipped shores of Puget Sound,
May your lives be far less exciting!

Tempted
The thought is tempting not to post today.
This week has been horrible!
Two minor heart attacks, one additional induced to see what is up with the rotten ticker.
A dialysis session straight from hell - everything went wrong, up to and including a power failure!
I want to walk so badly!
But between the Siberian fires and the Canadian ones - we are chocking in smoke here!
For three weeks now, we are listed as "hazardous" air quality, even for healthy people!
Luckily, I have most of what I need.
And Gaelic Girl is forced to not be outside due to her 80 hour work schedule!
Everyday is in the 80's - far too hot for me!
Swiss Boy far prefers the temperature on glaciers!
So, lots of fans running.
But unlike years past - to push air around, not draw from outside.
The air smells not like wood smoke, but burnt meat!
Very weird.
My friends on the east side of Cascade Mountains, all report the same strange odor.
The cloud in the morning hangs about 20 feet off the ground through most of the day.
Generally, breaking up or rising around noon.
Poor pilots are only getting a half mile of visibility!
Sure glad I am not flying.
Wish I could go somewhere smoke free!
Well, I will retire now and try to think of something interesting for Friday's post ....
