Side Tracked

So, you might have noticed that I was absent for a week.

Not on purpose, mind you.

But just a product of my body failing again,

And God saying,

"No, not yet ..."

I went to my cardiologist for answer to the question of why is my left leg healing so slowly?

Next thing I know,

I am on table and surgical staff are talking about whether to restart my heart again!

Yeah it utterly stopped four times!

A two hourr exam became a solid day in critical care and a lost week!

In the end, we did find I had no open arteries to my left leg.

They opened them again.

So, with restored blood flow shpild come restored healing to my left foot!

Guess we will see!

Monday

Monday was an utter disaster!

Went to dialysis for my usual five hour visit -
Only they had to pull me off the machine at 90 minutes!
Yeah, I was itching so bad I could not sit still
And kept pulling the needles out!
Yeah. freaks them out everytime!!!!!

It was noon by the time I got home -
Completely covered in HIVES!

Oh dear oyd that was just misery!

And the more you scratch,
The more you itch!

I guess my Phosphorous levels were high .......

Now I had thought it was Potassium which did this to you.
So, for two years I Have been dutiful in keping track of my Potassium.
Phosphorus is a little harder to track.
The government does not require it being tracked.
So almost no one does!

I know dairy products are high in phospherus,
As is meat.
Total sum of my knowledge!

But heat and eat meals are high,
and chocolate, with dark being the wirest.
Oh, yeah:
And Cola products.

So Monday, I had a chocken pot pie,
With a Coke,
Some heritage cereal - with  Cream.

Yeah everything I ate on Monday morning had
Bathed in Phosphorus
And was completely poisonous to me!

So gotta go and use the door frame as my personal backscratched!
Oh yeah .....

Sleepless in Seattle

Again.
sigh ....

Yeah, but has been about a month since a full nights sleep.
Usually, I only can manage 60 minutes,
With a sleeping pill, maybe 2 hours.
If I am lucky!

My doctor thinks I am stressed out over my health.
Yeah, he is a bit clueless.
But, then I decieded I would save him from the real me.
So, I know it is not stress!

My sleeplessness is just that,
Sleep for 90 minutes then I am awake.
And it is with a sound that always awakens me:
Like a small explosion.

And there never is .....

Too weird.

If you research this,
You find that this is considered by people whom should know better,
To be your harbinger of your pending death!
Now where on Earth do they find these experts?
(I take that back, if I die this weekend! )

Musical Saturday Morning

I thought a little Falco would be good,  but which one!?!?
So many 1980 hits,
In both English and Austrian!

Finally I went a live video of him doing his first English hit.
Though my chpoice would have been the Austrian version
Because it was more interesting.
sigh

Anyway, enjoy .....

Pandemic

The Pandemic here locally has been picking up slightly.

We only 8 cases of COVID in the first go around,
And the all got the disease in Seattle!
Of all the people I know,
Only Swede has had the disease,
And he caught in his Bible study!
That study had 26 people go down with it!
Luckily, no deaths we know of.
Locally, we have had nothing.
So my medical friends have told me.

And it appears we are set for round two!
Yeah, all those whom were so certain there was no danger.
So, here in my little town:
Four engineers at Gaelic Girls work have succomed
Two at Youngest Daughter's store are ill

But with so few,
Most of the hospitals are closing their special units.
My local hospil was prepared for 180,
Per government prediction.
Of course, six is hard to call a pandemic.

Of course business is at the mercy oy our over-reacting leaders.
Whom are jerking around bisiness as much as they can!
So by and large everyone does what they want to -
Let the courts figure it out later!

Unfortunately, you as a customer are on the buble.
You never know which businesses are open which days,
Much Much less which times,
Nor how many they will let in at a time!
Sigh, how does one even shop for food when your store:
Might be open from 10 to 4 only,
Has a maximum of 35 peop[le allowed in at a time,
And you are only allowed 20 minutes before you have to go requeue!
And that is another 3+ hour wait for your turn again!!!!!

So, pretty much it is off to grocery stores at 6 am.
Be at restaurants when doors open.
And good luck ever going to a hobby store!
But at least bookstores are open and not popular!

As for church,
It is going to open ..... But:
Only allowed a 25% occupancy - or - no more than 200 people at a time
And must be deep cleaned after each service!
So, I am just not going to attend any services for at least this year.

But if we look at our last pandemic,
It lasted for 3 years,
Before it finally died out in the arctic areas!
So, will COVID run the same course?

Scientists are banking on a yearly flu model,
One year - then a mutation to deal with later.
Unlike the swine flu aka Spanish Flu model of:
You got forever!
Until it dies off!

Of course, it was not a threat to everyone,
Nor is COVID!
Spanish Flu, like the Plague,
Was limited only to people whom do not carry the D-34 gene.
Yeah, unlike popular victim based science,
Not everyone is going to get it!

If your ancestors survived the Black Plaque,
So will you survive!
Of course it is the foolish man whom gambles!

Longing For old days!

Wow, what a sleep I had!
Did not get up until 4 pm Tuesaday,
Ate a latrge dinner at the local cantina,
Went back home and to bed!

Yeah, not like me at all!
Well,I am known for my sleeping:
Any place
Any time
In any position!
You would be amazed what I have been known to sleep through.

Of course today is dialysis,
So, 6AM at the kidney center,
11AM bac home,
Eat some lunch
Then lay down for a few hours!

But I have to get appointments for me and the car.
This ought to be fun!
My cardiologist is impossible to schedule!
His p[lanner makes appointments without talking to you
Then gets pissed off if you are not available at her scheduled times!
sigh

It is just amazing at what local medicine has become with this COVID stupidity!
Theory X people have reappeared from the woodwork!
Waiting to get slapped down again,
Just as they were at the end of the 1990's!

Be nicer when the problem finally goes away for good!

July 14, 2020

Rest

After months of being booked 100% of the time with doctors!, today, believe it or not - is free!!!!!
No time conflicts,
No doctors,
No exams of any kind!!
No idea how this happened
But I am currently sleeping in!

No doubt Gaelic Girl has a day filled with work planned for me.
But, this boy is tired!

might do some reading in one of several 18th century cookbooks I have to investigate.
Just a quick peek has only made me more interested!
Recipes not so unlike my own cooking but also simpler!
And I am into simpler ....
Just have to see if they are any better
or not!

I really need some chocolaye cake ....
..... sigh ......

Musical Saturday Morning

Gess, I honestly do not remember hair being this long in 1972!
1975, sure, but 1972?????
No way!
So, perhaps the dating of the video is bad?

Anyway, one of Bad Finger's best:

Screening

So, if it is not one thing - it is obviously another!
The past five years have been health disaster after another!
So, how do you follow that up?
Obviously with another health issue!

Yeah, this time cancer.

So, I went to tje doctor back in May with pains and swellings.
He referred me to a cancer screener for the local hospital.
Oh lovely.
Just lovely.
When you catch up with me in Heaven. ask me how i feel about cancer!

Been through it 7 times,
Each time different,
Each time it went into remission - surprisingly.
That includes one episode where Kris gave up!

Yeah, I had ben in unbelievable pain for weeks,
The specialists all gave me under 3 months to live,
That was 30 years ago!

And a very grateful Kris watched in real time as the tumors shrank!
Very surrealistic!

Of course my diagnosis, this time, and request for an MRI was back in April.
And no one was doing MRIs!

And  today, I finally was in queue long enough to warrant booking a cancer exam!
Gees, sure glad it is nothing fatal like some over hyped flu variety!!!!!!!
So you take your narcotic pain killers and curse stupid politicians!

That is what will be keeping me busy for the next two weeks!
(I think I am going to go throw up from thinking bout this!)

July 6, 2020

Cookbook

I collect cookbooks.
I like to read them,
Think on how to improve the recipe,
Then try it out.

Oh, the bombs I have created!
Conversely, I do manage a gem now and then ...

So, it was with surprise I received a box from my American "nephew".
Inside was a cooking scrapbook.
Spanning 170 years of recipes,
It is his family's only legacy.
I felt very touched he shared this with me!

And how I wished anyone in my family had bothered to write out something as simple as a cookbook~
But, no, not my family!
They have cherished cooky recipes only.
And mot of those can be found in a Betty Crocker's anyway.

What did they eat other than cookies?
How did they prepare eggs or other meats?

Oh, I realize that my Scottish family would have boiled everything,
My mother's cooking has echoed their inability in the kitchen ...
But, what of father's family?
I know he cooked a great deal of hashbrowns.
He had one other potato recipe but I have no real memory of it.
And once he visited towards the end of his life and whipped uo coqcoq vin for the kids.

Well, he sort of messed up the preparation and then I had to deal with 4 drunk children.
Last time I let him cook!

And back to the cookbook,
I am transcribing it,
Will photograph the results,
And build a little cookbook out of it.
He, his children and other relatives should enjoy that.

And I will get to try some new and very old recipes!

Musical Saturday Morning

Ah, the memory of those early morning jams session at the IHOP!
The best of times!

(munch-munch-nunch!)

July 3, 2020

Hope

What is you hope in?
I mean why bother to get out of bed each day?
What keeps you going?

I used to walk a great deal,
Hitch-hiking everywhere!
Of course this was during Ted Bundy's terror reign in the Seattle area
And NO ONE would give this skinny geek a ride.
So, I just got used to walking most of way to where I was headed!

I lived in Tacoma,
My Grandmother I was caring for lived in Auburn,
My church I joined was in Kent.
So, averaging 25 miles between everywhere!

Outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is a natural hitch-hiking point.
The meeting of two highways,
Sheltering trees for cover from the rains,
Or privacy for, toilette au natural!
And someone with a sense of humor was there before me.

Tacked to a small cross, under one of trees:
"No Dope,
No hope,
No ride,
I died."

I had a long wait for a ride,
So, I had plenty of time to wander around,
and ponder that sign.

Later, I was to learn that some bears took to doing their meal shopping here!
Leading to many maulings and killings of hitch-hikers!

But, back to hope!

And I have only remembered this little poem because it is important to checkup on myself once in a while and see where I am coming from and going to.

Is Jesus really my hope in this life?
Or is my goal "heaven", with or without Jesus in tow?
Is my hope really in Jesus forgiveness for Kris being Kris,
Or in my ability to balance the books?

Oh make no mistake,
Kris has the ability to royally screw up!
Bur thankfully, Jesus seems to have infinite ability to forgive!
Which is good!!!!!!

Which an understanding of this,
Leads one away from a belief in theology upon which most of our songs are based on!
Yeah, if it comes from me - it is totally fallible!
If it originates from God - darn hard to argue with then!

So, my hope is not in my faith.
Nor my understanding.
Nor a crucified Jesus.
Nor a buried Jesus.
It is in that empty tomb!
The one Jesus left behind!

Yeah .....
Jesus resurrected alone,
Changed to a immortal body,
Ready to return and assume His rule.
In the meantime,
We wait .....

Youtube on Prophesy

I have been surfing the word of Youtube lately.
really bored
But, I have been stunned by what I have been seeing!

I should not be surprised
The world system is opposed to all I believe in
So, if you are going to search on the word Prophesy
Guess what you will find.

Yeah very little that is Biblically based!

Oh, make no mistake, there is tons out there that would pretend to be Biblically based,
However, they are not.
I got a Bible, and I know how to check their references!
So much is taken out of context!
So much is flat made up references!
Gees, really?

So, frustrating week for me,
I had hoped to be learning something of value,
Not what not to learn!
Falsehood, my tired brain does not need!

sigh

So, lots of wasted hours.
Guess I need to find my old Ironside's commentary.
Aged at over a 150 years now, but at least
Ironside knew what he was talking about!
Which is amazing,
if you think about that ...

July 1, 2020

17th Century

Probrably thanks to my great-uncle Leonard, the Dane and his story telling to this young lad, I have been out of place in time for the whole of life.

Leonard lead a simple life.
I doubt there was difference between his personal lifestyle and and of his ancestors.
His life revolved around managing his dairy herd,
managing his small fishing fleet
and church.
Though no one would have tagged him as devoted by any means!

So, I have lived my life reading about the 17th cerntury
and in so regards longing for those simpler days.

Oh make no mistake,
I know full well I would have died at birth
or at any number of lessor opportunities!, before adulthood.
Even in this day and age, without the grace of God,
I would have died last Halloween,
Had I not have been already in surgery when my aorta burst!

So, Kris never would have survived the time period.
Yet I still long for the relative calm of bygone days.

There are a few businesses who cater to weirdos like me.
They sell re-renactment supplies.
Everything from appropriate clothing for the period
to recipe books.
How about appropriate fire making supplies or firearm tow for cleaning?
Patterns so you make your own breeches or fleece to pad your tired feet?

Yeah, lots of things.

I just have to figure out how to inter-weave my Scottish and German sides together.
But then what about my Indian heritage?
I mean,
I am more American Indian than Scottish!

Sigh

A Tartan clad figure in lederhosen, with a feather or smeared with bear grease?
I have no idea!
But now that would make for a photograph!

Cable Down

So, darn COMCAST was down for two days!

Luckily I had connectivity sufficient to support RUKO, or I would have gone insane!

End of Terror

Muska, aka Terror Kitty, is the bane of my life!
It is extremely hard not cursing when even mentioning that creature!

She cameinto our lives when I took my Grandmother home after a paerty to celebrate Sasha's 13th birthday.
In a driving rainstorm, I got out of my car to walk Grandmother to her apartment.
Over the sound of the driving rain was this sorrowful mewing of  a kitten.
It took us a while to locate where the sound was coming from, behind a tire of a car.

This little tea cup size kitten was so young it was lucky to have its eyes open!
Ver small, very frail and shaking uncontrolably!
I was pretty sure it was not going to survive .....

Tjhe vet pronounced the kitten healtth,
about five months old,
What is there to say?
The kids voted to keep her!

Later they admitted that the real draw of the cat was that she was an orphan like them.

So across the 17 years we have now had her,
she has developed a few bad habits.
Any closed house door brings howls of rage!
If you do not open that door now, she will hunt you down!
If her food dish gets below 10% full, God help you!
Forget to clean her cat box, and be prepared to wash you bed well that night!
So very outspoken and vindictive!

So by the end of this past weekend,
I had had it with her and her behavior!

And she went off on mr - again!
But I had had it!
She is screaming at me in cat
And I am trying to figure out what on heck she wants!
She had plenty of everything.

Then she hops up into the tub and starte to demand "wild water".
But bending over that low is all but impossible for me!
Then she gets nasty about it!

And that was it!
No more!

I grabbed her by the scruff of her neck,
and meowed nastily in her face as I cared her to her water dish.
Then in she went nose first.

I dropped her
And it was a good feeling ...

Amazingly, she has not repeatef her bad behavior
Nor demanded bathtub water!

So, you can teach an old cat new tricks!

Jobs

Yesterday's post reminded me that for those whom do not know me, you do not know the randomness of my life,

As a child, I just wanted to be in the Army.
And they tied up my life for four years!
Mostly in court trying to get me to kill people.
But I held even as a youth extremely strong views on the question of the value of human life!
It was not a value shared with my friends or family.
I was an odd duck,
With no support from anyone!

Up until I was 21, I held a billion part time jobs.
Lawn care, home repair, camera repair, grocery bagging, race engine building.
What even would raise a buck!
I only slept 2 hours a night back then, so plenty of time to work.

Then I got a job as a programmer in a smalll computer shop.
I hated it.
But, I had lots of free time for rewriting the computer's operating system.
The manufacturer was very impressed and hired me to work on the design of a digital computer.
But, I ended up on a new breed of IBM mainframe four months later.
And in frustration, I rewrote the disk drive operating system.
And created a data base operating system.

MIT was monitoring my work and was very impressed!
Years later, I learned so was the US Navy!
But it got my foot in the big world of technology.
For the next 30 years, I consulted on new technology projects.
And all free time was tied up with youth ministry.

Then came the doctors ..........
Ah, retirement is so much fun!
Doesn't matter how much you earn,
They have special programs to drain off all you have

:^(

Days of McLarin

Last fall, I had been excited to see the movie Ford versus Ferrari.
Of course last fall was the heart attack,Aorta rupture and essentially my death.
Not going to forget Halloween Day anytime soon!
And last night, that movie was on the boob-tube!

So, I had to watch it.
Why?
Well, my first job was with McLaren Racing, mic'ing parts on tracing engines.
It was only a part time job,
And paid all of $ .30 an hour!
Yeah the good old days when tiy were just lucky to find a job as a teen ager!

The movie was a fun romp through my memories.
Of course everything covered was prior to my getting on with McLarin.
Carroll Shelby had made his splash on the world racing scene,
But he was a legend!
The GT-40 the fastest car I ever worked on.
Fun times!

The film follows the development of the GT-40,
The interpersonal clashes within Ford Motors.
And a general white washing of some of that history!
Plus an understanding of what happened to Shelby's friend Jeff. (sp?)

I would recogmend the film to anyone interested in the racing era: 1964 to 1969,
Politics of racing,
Or why Ford deserves its reputation as an abusive sponsor.
It is why I have driven either VW or Toyota my why life!

All I can say,
Is that the GT-40 was the scariest car I ever worked on!
It was also amongst the finest cars I ever worked on!
My racing days ended in 1977,
Except for a blast from the past in 1980's when a GT-40 was found in the rafters of a Garage in Renton, Washington!

I was working on a HP system in Idaho at the time,
So on one of my trips to Boise, I diverted for a weekend to the Seattle area!
Arned with grubby clothes and a flashlight, I crawled through this dump of a garage!
And there it was!
Areal GT-40!
It had actually never even been raced!
Rich man's boy-toy.

I got it out of the "upstairs" of the garage.
Inventoried the parts,
It was mostly there!
And the property owner decided to keep the car!
Yeah, it seems Kris works for free a great deal of the time!

Last I heard, it was offered for sale for millions!
(not sure what they were smoking!)
And remains unrunning and unsold!
There are just fewer whom are qualified to work on it, with time.

Good film to watch whether you like racing or not.
GG would not give it a thumbs up since she slept through most of it!
She wanted to warch Star Trek, yet, again!

And, no, the film did not sully any reputations!
Which says something given the deviants involved in the story!

Countdown

I am a product of the age of Space and Rocketry exploration.
Before there was a Gemini or Mercury program.

Buck Rodgers and Rocky Jones were the fill of my idle hours.
So, with the start of the Mercury program,
I got to watch many of the unmanned rocket test shots!

5,4,3,2,1, Ignition! Blastoff!
Usually followed by an Earth shattering BLAST!
Yeah, rocket launches were nothing if not unpredictable.

And the rockets were so small,
Until you walked amongst their smoddering remains!

Apollo 13 was the first f the modern age of rockets I was able to view up close,

My Great-Uncle Leonard had a vibratating chair.
Nestled next to if was huge shortwave radio.
I used to hop into the chair and turn on the news, so as to hear the  rocket laungh.
5. 4. 3. 2. 1 Ignition
(start the vibrating chair!
BLASTOFF!!!!!

It was such great fun!

Thinking

GG commted last evening that Kathy is really getting her world shaken up!

Adjusting to life without her husband of 45 years.
Having to deal with home repairs.
Having to deal with aging automobiles!
Add to this all of her friends are fearful of their lives, thanks to COVID.
And the loss of several friends as well.

Yeah, nothing about this year is very stable.
It seems change is the only constant!
Yet God is in control, if we allow him to be.

I guess, it is a question as to where your eyes are / faith is in  .....
Worry about your bankaccount/wealth/ wallet,
And yeah, you never will accumulate what you seek so despeerately.

Luckily, Kathy is a Christian.
She knows her future is secure.
And if she loses all, She can always live here!
What else are "family's" for?

I have no idea where she would stay.
I only have 1 room,
Natalya only has 1 room.
But FF has 2!

Oh she would squeal!
But payback can be hell!

June 16, 2020

Poor Kathy

Kathy is the wife of my ex-mining partner whom passed away a few years ago.
(sniff!)

Sionce then, she has been hunting guys.
(shutter!)

So, I was not surprised when called the other night.
I have been dreading this call, becuase I a not approving.

Thankfully, it was not the "I captured a guy call"
It was the I am surrounded by fire!

Yeah, Mt. Lemmon. which is her backyard, has a wildfire!
And the fire lines have now surrounded her!

So, lots of prayer need here!

It is currently 107,
everything north, south  and east of her home is on fire.
She lives in a hacienda style home,
Very safe were it not for the flat roof and problem of heat!

So you can stay abreast of her plight under a search for:
Bighorn fire, Tucson
On any browser.

And yes, she is a Christian and needs the prayers right now!

June 15, 2020

Hmmmmmm

Talked with my sister.
She is back from her trip to Iowa to flee the protests in Minneapolis.
So it seems things quieted down in her neighborhood.
Well, Floyd was killed at the intersection by her house!
As a review, her shopping area was burned to the ground,
Including the post office a block from her house!

Of course, she has to drive around the area because the nearest intersection,
Where Floyd was killed, people keep building memorials,
Lots of flowers, photographs, etc.
So rather than risk killing someone walking in the road,
She just drives around it.

Plus, Somer takes after father,
White to the point of her skin being transparent.
Unlike me, whom was born brown-ish.
Think of my American Indian heritage and it makes sense.
Of course, lots of people by think me to be Hispanic!

Which reminds me why Somer fled to Iowa without her husband:
He is of African extraction (nice way to put it?)
And so black that he makes most "blacks" here in America
Brown!
When people have accused me of being a racist based solely on my European appearance (!)
I just show them a picture of my brother-in-law with me!
Yeah he makes me look white!
But, nothing like my sister!

So, thinking she would attract attention to her property, she left, husband,
Whom would be of no interest to rioters!
Not so unlike father's family in the 300 years war,
When the Catholics and Protestants were duking it out:
Part of the family was Catholic, the rest Protestant.
If the identity of the invaders could be identified,
Then that family would answer the door,
The rest hid!

And the castle was not sacked !
Just as Somer's house was spared

Just grateful, this has not spread to my neck of the woods!
I would hate not even being able run.
Yeah, maybe four more month to full healing!
In the meantime, codeine is my best friend .....

Painting

Wednesday, I finally had some time to do a little practice paintinig.
I have long wanted to use oil paints but fear has stiffled me.
It does no help when your Grandmother was an award winning artist, nor that history of her family stretches back hundreds or years with accomplished artists!
On father's side, the entire family is artsy-fartsy too.

So, I decided I would do a picture for my mother for Christmas.
I chose to do a woodpecker.
So, I did nine woodpeckers, with some tragic results!
John Audubon I am not ......
But, at least one of them was a decent bird.
Too bad the rest of the background.
Sigh .....

But we shall overcome .....

June 11, 2020

More Tests

Oh sigh, I am so tired of doctors!
ARGH!!!!!!!

So, I was told to go see my cardiologist for a post surgery exam.
Well, I kind of was wondering when they were going to examine their handy work!
So duly washed down my torso.

They ushered me in and told me to drop my pants!
WTHeck???????
So the technician explained this was an arterial scan of my legs.
I sighed, found a chair and stripped.
And tjhen he hit me with the jelly!@

OMG!
I thought I was going to die I was laughing so hard from the tickle!
I thought I would certainly lose bladder control if nothing less!
Luckily, he did not linger on the most ticklish areas!
WHEW!

And was it.

two point 5 hours in the door to our the door for a five minute ultrasound!
Sure glad I am retired,
With nothing better to do than see doctors!

This morning was more corrective surgery to keep the regrowth in check.
Front of the foot is almost completely healed.
As is the toes.
Only the heel area needs to complete its regrowth.
Stem cells maybe cool but awfully slow in completion!

Really looking forward to Saturday and no external time constraints!
Gonna redo my painting then .....

Coming Out

No, Kris is not gay.
But I have been living several years now with this dual nature inside of me.
The old one I squashed and stays such through much prayer.
The new me, Kris 3.0 as my  friends have been calling me for the past year.
That is how startling my transformation has been viewed!
And no one has known how to react to it!

..... and it has been years!

So, I finally got family and friends over for a movie night.
Yeah we broke "curfew" and distancing idiocy and a few other "laws" !
I have been compelled to share with them the movie, "Yesterday".
For the past week!

So, I popped gallons of popcorn, we brought out my stash of bubbly water and I started the film (HBO online).
At the 30 minute mark we had to stop the film.

Swede, looked at me and asked if I was feeling alright.
Garlic Girl, burst into tears.
Someone commented, "This is not like you at all!".
So we took at bathroom brake for everyone to regain their composure.

And we finished the film without further comment.

Swede: "Well, no Godzilla found here!"
Someone: "Yeah no lizards died in the making of this film!"
GG, guarded: "Well that was a nice film!", and went off to have a cry.
And everyone left.

So, I finally did it!
I exposed the fully changed Kris to my world.
My heart is free and happy.
I am now at peace after years aching over this!

As for the film, Yesterday:

It was made last year.
Ed Sheer (whatever) plays a role.
Otherwise no one appears that I recognize.
No nudity, no sex, no swearing I noticed, very G-rated.

It is just a nice story of a failing musician, whom wakes up after an auto accident.
To find that no one has ever heard of the Beatles or Coca-Cola.
And now when he performs the old Beatles play-card, he is a superstar.
But he is an honest man and is tormented being credited for John Lennon's work.

Well worth seeing, especially if you like the Beatles.
Or want to share with younger people why telling the truth is important!
I would definitely own this one but HBO films are hard to get on DVD.
sigh

As for me, I am waiting for the repercussions for having shown my new nature.
But, I am so at peace finally that I no longer have to be driven by my old nature!
And it will,  I am sure, be tacked up to a reaction to the surgical gases used on me ...
When my heart had to be rebuilt last year.

:^)

Flashback

Remember the 1980's?
Good economy,
Iran,
Carter,
Failing morals,
Failing Church influence,
The rise of the New Age,
and all that was brought with that.

Yeah and a little thing called AIDS/HIV.

I suffer from a poor immune system.
Have my entire life.
You just get use to knowing that tomorrow may never happen.

Suddenly, about 1982, my doctor called me in.
He explained there was some weird blood disorder and wanted to test me.
NEEDLES! ahhhhhhh!
Everything was negative.
My life has always been too boring
Or perhaps too perplexing for an average doctor.

Now I had one of the largest mineral specimen collections back then.
And bought sold and traded rocks worldwide.

By 1984 I was wondering what going on.
Too many of my customers and friends were dying .....
Some of them had been like brothers to me for years.

I went down to a local rock shop to see my friend  John one Saturday.
He wasn't there,
He was in the hospital.
Okay, I diverted to the hospital.
And he was already dead!
Just that fast.

That was how I first heard of AIDS.
John and all of the others had been members of the gay community.
And Kris does not judge,
He tries to live a life that shows genuine concern for others and God's compassion.
And unlike the prior decade of my life,
I started actively witnessing to my "gay" friends.

Few chose to make their peace with God, our creator.
The majority for various reasons chose hatred for their parents and Church get in the way.
"How could God allow this to happen?"
In all I lost 86 friends and close customers across two years.
But, I learned a great deal,
Grew spiritually,
And I do have a few of those friends waiting for me to join them on the other side  .....

AIDS/HIV is still with us today.
But I am less involved in the gay community.
You tend to forget ...

Then this week I had an abrupt reminder.
Someone I care about and pray regularly for,
Told me she has AIDS.
It was like being hit between the eyes!

So, she has known for years.
Just never mentioned it, even in passing.
I have to admit I had wondered how she could be so kucky.

A drug using ex-husband.
And all that goes with that.
Seems she was not all that lucky after-all.
:(

Sad part is, she is but one of two women I know in this situation!
I wish this latest friend had shared this years ago.
I hate not praying effectively.
It saddens me on so many levels.
sigh

So, latest friend is in what appears to be in remission.
The first one is in denial.
Not a good place to be.

So please pray, long term, for these women.
Both are Christians.
Both seem to have a positive attitude.
I just worry for them .....

Musical Saturday Morning

Well, not exactly Lennon's best performance!
But, it is the message that matters, right?

Of course, being the kind of troubled youth I was, I was always starting foot stomping on the bleachers.  Man that was loud!  And someone always would start the word flow (long before rap!) but I do not remember any of the words.  Though it was common to list teachers' transgressions.

Thunderstorm

I love lightening stormss!
And boy have we had them this week!

It started Saturday morning, 9 am, BLAM and the entire house shook!
Immediately followed by another BLAM!
And another,
And another!

For 1.5 hours this place sounded like a war zone!
The house shaking.
The trees and grass blades all lighting up a gorgeous golden color!
The skies grew dark
And the rains come!

Wow!

Probably the best display I have seen in Washington State!

Elton John

I am not muchon making comments about others, well only if they warrant it.
Certainly, Elton John has got some comments due him, but he plays nothing in my life at this time.
This was not always so .......

Now, there was a time when I was living in Colorado, outside of Colorado Springs.
I worked on a new type of computer development with IBM.
Well, that was six days a week.
That left me one day for my passion, as well as weeknights, rock collecting.
And Colorado does have rocks!

I was reading a piece on the scarcity of tungsten, and its worldwide demand.
Prior to the 1920's, Colorado had the the top producer of tungsten.
So, what happened?

South Africa was opened up for mineral development.
Well, if the price of tungsten was going to go up,
Why not see about getting a few of those Colorado mines working again?

Oh, I located a good property, plenty of potential.
But, it seems I kept crossing paths with this Elton John dude!
No he was not looking  for minerals, but a Colorado retreat.
In fact, a working mine was the last thing he wanted to see happen.
Interestingly, the county had zero interest in that either!

So, Elton locked up the entire Caribou area.
Dozed anything to do with the mines on that property,
Dozed the mine dumps,
Flattened the townsite,
and then posted the property!
Problem was, he bought it on a silver claim.
Mining properties are supposed to remain just that.
You can't lock down a mining claim and convert it to vacation playlland!

Unless you are rich, world famous and officials are corrupt enough!

So I was a pain in his backside and visa-versa.

To me he was just another famous cocaine addict.
Wasn't going to live long.
In the meantime, I would get my tungsten rights secured.

Four decades later,
I am looking for something to watch and there is this movie about his life.
Now, no one under 21 needs to see this movie,
Probably those over 21 do not need to either.
But it is interesting to see if you knew him or had to deal with him!

It does lay out his problems, bad homelife and drugs.
It does define why he became the way he was.
Sad part was that God was allowed no place to play a role in his life.

And Caribou did not even exist in this movie!
Of course a lot of other things in Elton's life where either brushed over or ignored as well.

As for me,
I found my father's "dead" family in Switzerland,
And thus began the very quiet and fragile work at seeking them out.
Family is far more important to me than rocks .....

Burn Baby Burn!

Yeah, it is that time of year again.
When the Oregon anarchists gather to burn down downtown Seattle!
And EVERY year the police and politicians are so amazed that it is happening again.
Catching them flat footed, just like the years prior!
The utter clulessness of Washington politicians is just amazing!
In a THINKING society,
Prior performance would dictate current policy.
But, NO, not in Seattle.
We know last year will never be duplicated.
And we all act shocked,
When it does.

So, as I am typing this on Sunday,
Bellevue is burning,
After being looted by a professional gang.
They had been warned this would happen!
But they made no contingency plans.
It took three hours just to call the National Guard to ask for help!

Seattle at least took the precaution to fortify one of the police stations,
But no others.
Amazing.

It was almost humorous seeing all of these rioters struggling with arm loads of clothing!
As if they they arrest was a complete surprise!
"But it was just hanging there,
And I wanted it!"
Of course their argument dies when their phones are all linked to their eBay accounts and they are caught photographing the clothes which are NOT in their sizes!
"But, I am here protesting for George, these thefts add to our argument!"

Yeah, one of them actually said that on film!

eepah!  People are stupid.
Of course if they are mostly visiting from Oregon,
They may be more stupid that usual ........

Sorry no sympathy .....
Except for George's family whom are being humiliated by the protestors behavior.

sigh

Continuity

Blogger's announcement of a new release has me cringing.
I hate wasting my time re-configuring my account and/or machine to whatever they have played with in Blog-landia!

Back in the 1980's I had a contract with a Venezuelan oil company to create a standard architecture for system's development and design, a big part of the product being the need for regression testing of the new software to prove transparency to the new user.
It was extreme fun because no one had ever done so definitive a process before.
And the fights we had!
With developers in Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Mexico and the US, communication  was a difficulty!

As I thought on this, I realized that the movie industry really needed this on a scene by scene level!

Watching so many movies lately, I observe areas where this is needed:
Actor walked through a door and next scene, enter a room and the actor is now much thinner or fatter!  Or even pregnant!
Like you are not supposed to notice!
How about you are wearing green and next scene, you are now wearing blue!
Or there is lace on the outfit but missing in the next?
Or shoe changes while riding a horse?
Better yet, you take off on a nice chestnut colored horse and arrive on an American Paint?
And I loved the one where they took off on an English saddle and arrived on a Western roping saddle!

But this also extends to more "modern" movies.

In war movies, many WWI movies feature WWII Mauser rifles.
And the Germans would have loved to have had G/K-42's in WWI!
They would have won the war!

Worse is Hogan's Heroes, where the Germans are armed with American Krag rifles!
There was a reason the Krag was so short lived!
But apparently, good enough for TV audiences I guess.

(My foot is throbbing really bad right now, which makes me think of TV audiences)

Poor Jackie Chan has the worst of luck with injuries!
So many of his films he has had to finish in a cast.
Yet, they film anyway, like no one should notice the huge leg he now has!
Or foot.
Or how one arm now dangles uselessly.

But, I love how "injuries" move from scene to scene too!
Yeah, shot in one leg, limp with the other!

Well, enjoy your next viewing of a movie and count the errors!

New Blogger

So, today is the new Blogger release.
Historically this means I will be locked out for a few weeks!
So, if so, just know I am working on whatever is locking me AGAIN!
Of course, I am hoping that they have done their testing and it will be transparent to all of us!

I would like to say more but, the house just had its monthly ant spray down and I am out of here!

Sister Freaking Out!

Sommer, needed a break and took off to Iowa two weeks ago.
Her idea of Heaven: bratwursts, antiques and craft beers!
I could see a day off that, but TWO weeks?

So I get a panicked text from her.
She just got home and the neighborhood is on fire.
Thousands are rioting,
And the governor has called for the national guard ...

Yeah, she lives in Minneapolis.
In fact only a block from where the cops managed to kill yet another black man.
They had not fully recovered from the last time this happened!

So, she is freaked out.
Even thinking of finally leaving this Hell-hole for good!
Yeah, any place with Minneapolis' weather is what I equate to a Hell-hole,
Baking sunshine with droughts.
Freezing long winters, with power outages.
Heavy rains in fall, with flooding.
Rains with flooding in spring.

Heck yeah, sounds like a must live in to me!

So, I told her again to come out here.
"Heck no! Don't you remember 40 years ago?"

Oh course I do.
One does not forget 35 hours fleeing a volcanic blast!
Nor the week of blindness I suffered through.
Not to mention all of the eye rinses to get the ground mountain out of my eyes!
Never have worn my contacts since!

Hmmmmm.
Rioting or volcano?
I think I would prefer brats in Iowa ......
Prosit Sommer!

Answer For

I get involved in the strangest conversations sometimes!

Take one from from Friday ...

Now I am just happy to talk with ANYONE these days.
Yeah, my friends have all gone home and disappeared!
I Don't get it it.
Many of them seem to just disappear, if they are not working!
And I know they are home and NOT working!
So, what are they doiing?
No idea.

Now, I was thinking about stepmother, Gwen.
I really miss her!
And I was in a discussion with someone concerning the excesses of the Roman Catholic Church..

Gwen suffered at the hands of teachers she had in parochial school.
And I relayed some of her tales of the abuses she suffered at the hands of those whom NEVER should have been allowed near a vision impaired child!
Of course, it did not help that the condition came and went.
I saw her on days where she could not find the floor,
Then on others when she could spot a spaghetti sauce stain on my tie at forty feet!
(Totally freaked me out the first that happened!)

And the person I was talking with commented,
That those people had a great deal to answer for .....

But in reality,
If I read my Bible correctly,
All any of us get to answer for is:
"Did you submit, in faith, to Jesus' Lordship in your life"

Pretty simple yes or no condition!

Yet we muck it up continually with what is our pet peeve.
Method of baptism,
Or just baptism, period!
Tithing
Anything to do with the Holy Spirit.
etc, etc, etc!

Sure glad Jesus gets to sort it all out at the end!
Nobody wants me deciding their fate based on my take on their life!
I have enough problems keeping myself straight with me!

Well, just something to think on while the BBQ warms up.

May 22, 2020

Where Has The Year Gone?

Oh My Gosh!
It is almost Memorial Day!
Where has the year gone?

Historically, We get together with Dutchman and Swede, and all go Camping.
Such fun we have had in the past!
Camp outs to the San Juan Islands, Blake Island, Eastern Washington, Eastern Oregon, etc.
Any place where a tent could be pitched and roaring bonfires could be had!
And visitors often swelled our parties.

Though my mind draws a blank heer.
Edvard, Swede's brother,
Margi, whom Swede had the worst crush on for years!

This year, we are doing a BBQ in the yard.
Swede and all of my kids, and all of their kids.
So, ought to be fun!

Have a safe holiday!

May 21, 2020

Bummer

So the results did not come in!
So much for the two day turn around!
I guess that Pierce County turned in so many blood samples that it will now be Wednesday
before my test results will be available!
sigh .....

In other news:
I had my wound care on the foot today.
It was painful, as usual.
No way around that when you are regrowing a foot and breaking new ground medically.
I also had the second graft of new skin to the heel area of the foot.
So, it continues ...

Rather a full day.
Time for pain pills.

May 20, 2020

Interesting

Does EVERYTHING draw scrutiny and criticism?

Take something simple, like taking the COVIC19 test.
Now Swede had this test run on him last week, with the new blood draw they are offering.
Of course, he tested positive because he had this back in February.
Poor guy.

So since he was positive since at least mid February,
And we hang out together,
I scheduled a test for me,
As I was quite ill the first week of March.

Not a biggie as far as I was concerned.

But oh no, a great many around me objected.
"... if you really trusted God ..."
and about 10 even stupider statements!
ETC

Of course, they are completely missing the point:
If my test comes back positive,
It means I will now be immune from further infection.
It also means that with the recovery of my foot,
I have a ministry possibility to those whom will fall ill in the second and third waves.

Well, that was my apparently utterly selfish idea ......

REI

I have been a member of REI since 1972.
A gift membership from my uncle Douglas.
One of the few times in my life when someone actually gave me something reflective of me!
Back then I spent all of my time climbing and hiking.
So, much appreciated!

Much more than the brief case some thought I really needed.
I used it for my suitcase when I travelled for 20 years!
Yeah, wholly impractical!

Bored, over the weekend, I did some reading on the history of REI.
Got to reading about James Whitaker and his Everest climb.
Side tracked by b5zarre 1990s alternative rock groups w Whitakers son.
And I slammed into Robert Kennedy!

Robert was the first person I was aware of politically.
Even though far too young, I thought he would make a good presidential choice!
My guess, so did someone in our shadow government,
and he was killed.

Last night, I thought about him.
All he said,
All he stood for,
All that could have been.

And, I remembered a song ...

May 18, 2020

Clean up

Well, went through my twisted posts and cleaned them up.
Made actual sentences,
Cleaned up spelling,
And corrected what I was trying to say.

Sorry not as many snickers available today.
Beat there are still hundreds of errors.
sigh

May 13, 2020

Covid Central

Greetings from the current American leader in all things COVID, except for deaths!

I am so sick of this house arrest I live under,
Sure lots of people a violating the containment and will survive.
But I was identified as a "strategic resource" and told that I have a "condition" which puts me on a watch list.
Yeah, I met six out of six conditions.
To guarantee death if I get it!
And apparently someone wants me alive.
sigh

Hence, I get daily checks for any symptoms,
It is fine with me,
Just over-kill.
Probably once every two weeks would be just as good.
Given the state of what we know.
Which is not much.

Swede is also under watch orders and he spends days every week in testing!
But then, he is showing something is wrong with him.
All teasing aside!
We are waiting for permission for him to visit on Thursday.
I hope he can, I have not seen him since he took me to ER in December!

And since he is my closest friend these past five years,
Yeah, I miss having someone to talk with.
Long days of boredom,
Punctuated with doctors and nurses for several hours everyday.
sigh

Church still has NO plans for meeting again.
All of the art classes and shows through summer are cancelled.
All coin shows are cancelled.

Music Video on Subject

Thought I would give my tired brain and over worked tear ducts a rest!
It is amazing how close to the surface those nerves are!
We think we move on,
But, A well seems some things are larger than life!
Even 50 years later.

Sorting it out

Fifty years ago, the week wore on.
People I had no respective for were screaming, "America, love it or leave it!"
Then beat the crap out of you because you did no sound "American"!
Yeah, I had an accent the whole of my life, until the stroke in 2005.
Of course, I also lost my language abilities!

On the otherside, was also a group I had desire to identify with.
The "Don't tempt me!" crowd.

My friends were mostly on the hyper patriotic side.
Very few on the radical in your face crowd.
Most were like me, undecided which was right.
Yeah, we had no basis from whiich to judge right from wrong!

Father's friends were all "government - right or wrong!".
And yet such a blind eye to basis of truth, seemed really wrong to me!
But, again, I had nothing from which to express this.

Nixon was an anomally in my life.
Like me, anti-war.
Unlike me, pro-government policy.
The shooting at Kent State and the resounding reaction across America, honestly shook him up!
It made him rethink.
From his core belief.
To bad it was an evil version of Nixon that won that inner battle!

At this point, God, completely changed everything for me.
From an environment of hatred, all I had known, to one of acceptance.
From friendless, to true friendships, many whom are still with me!
From wandering, to directed.

It is now 1975:
The US Army lost their case against me in Federal Court,
The Fellowship was fractured and scattered.
We duplicated our groups around the world.
I had learned to lean on Jesus for everything,

And there were some mighty awesome men, and women, whom taught me:
Jess Moody
Francis Schaeffer
A guy named Douglas Hunt
Bruce Robinson
Debby Kraemer
and, or course,
Dutchman
and Swede.

And whom was right or wrong?

Seems to me, whatever you put in front of God in your life - is wrong.
Does not matter your politics or desires.
Nixon was wrong because he had the choice,
And he chose ultra-conservatism, over his Quaker beliefs.
Mudd was equally wrong because he sought man's right over God's.

Yeah, choices we make do matter.
Short term
And in the long term .....

Innocence Lost

I came to America in 1969.
Not a good year for America.
Even harder on Germany.

But 1970 was worse.

I was in South Carolina and planning my escape!
For a high scgool student, there were only two options:
College or military draft.
I could handle the draft since father was a personal friend with Nixon.
So, hoping to avoid the Coast Guard, I was working the college angle.

In the pre-internet days, you had magazines ads to learn about schools.
So, I had found some which looked like they would take me.
And as far from South Carolina as I could get!
Two f my top choices were Lee College in Tennessee and Ohio's Kent State.
Two non descript schools.

But, as this week was to playout, fifty years ago .....

The nation was stunned,
Then broke into factions,
By the end of the week,
It was mass rioting and confusion.
Kent State was but the spark.

My school sponsored a guy named Rudd(?) to come and speak on civil disobedience.
I certainly understood his passions,
But I knew from Nixon, personally, his split view on anti-war and governing requirements.
Although portrayed as a hard ass conservative in the press,
he was a very much a feeling man with liberal values .....

Buckwheat

As my mind has been slowly rebuilding, little things keep popping up as memories.
One of my hard ones was buckwheat.

I remembered a grain we had in Europe as a child.
But the name completely eluded me in English!
And the German for it was worthless!
Mostly because there is an English same word for a different item!

Finally, I went to various stores here in town and described my problem.
Of course, stores these days are manned by "employees".
Not by people whom know their products.
Finally, I went to a hoe in the wall placed.
The only person there was of ittle help as I explained my quest:
A seed,
Anciently used widely
Middle Eastern and northern European
Angular or pyramidal shaped
--- nothing clicked ----
Was used in Russia for Kasha

Ah, score!
So, they fetched their Russia grains and there it was:
Buckwheat!

I bought a bag and have been enjoying it every morning :)
Problem is I ran out,
And I can not drive to store due the heart surgery in October!
Luckily, Tomorrow marks the first day my driving restriction is lifted.
But, with no working feet at this time,
Driving is still beyond me to do!

And store openings appear to be random in our trying times!
But there is always mail order.
Right?

Nope.
The only store which has is it in stock, wants 20 times what I paid back in pre-COVID times!
What the heck?!?!?!?
First it was anything that would kill germs.
Then toilet paper, kleenex and paper towels.
Now bulk grains?

Are people insane?
What next I wonder .....

Well, it may be a while until I can get someone to drive  me over to the one store here with Buckwheat, when there are open!
sigh ...
But hopefully I can drive by summer and enjoy some crunchy memories!

Still No Answer

Endless doctor visits continue - three today alone!

But, the test results I want and need, still evades me!

However, all test were results were perfectly normal.
Now for this heel to heal!
And get this waiting over!

Well back to lshpping on Amazon:
So far I have picked up a nice hip bag for my metal detecting or painting.
A viewfinder for laying out a picture.
A small hairdrier for my watercolor painting.
And proportional image sizing.
Not bad, a few tings I have needed for years just never bothered to find.

Now, what to do tomorrow ..... ?

Lost Week

Last week was really not a good week!

Dutchman's mother died.

You know how there are people in your life whom have always been there.
They are rocks.
Always been there.
Always will be there.
Not fathomable it would ever change!
That was how Jean was.

She married a horrible man.
Violent beyond description.
And she stood by that man.
Raised her children, as best she could.
And tried to stay out of arm's reach!
She stayed true to what she knew.
She taught us quite a bit.

Dutchman is scarce currently.
And one more piece of stress he really does not need.
He is a heart attack just waiting to happen.
sigh ...

Please keep him and his family in prayer.

Musical Saturday Morning

It must have been 1963 that I first heard a song by Herman's Hermits.

Their tunes were easy to remember and sing along with.
Who cares if I was in third grade with no idea what they meant!

Musical Saturday Morning

Nothing like a recent hit, long lost history in our today only culture!

April 17, 2020

Yippee!

Went into the wound care clinic, one of only one let in that hour!
So sat down for my weekly foot wound care process.
The doctor inspects the wound, takes some measurements and comments,
"Well you are still at a pont where a skin graft would accellerate your healing.
Interested?"

(Oh no, I like all the almost daily attention
i get, lets open the wound back up!)

Heck yes, I want the skin graft, even if my co-pay is $530!
(Of course if I could get the local coin shop to open I could sell one of my yummy pieces and easily raise the cash!
... sigh ...

So, he did it right there on the spot!
And it was a big nothing!
It was comparable to laying a pieces of tissue against your skin, taping it down, and done!
No shots,
No pain,
No lollipop!
As I said a big nothing!

Of course, no walking either.

Tomorrow I am once again being fitted with an "air walker" boot.
which takes the weight off the foot and puts it on your ankle.
So we will see how that goes!

April 16, 2020

So Gaelic Girl is back to work at the rocket factory.
And delighted with life once again.
And I finally am no longer micro-managed!
Thank God!

Swedish Rocket Scientist is bent all out of shape because,
Believe it or not,
He did not get Covid-19!
So now he wants his anti-bodies tested to prove he have it at one point!
I don't get why this is so horribly important to him!
You can not talk with him without his getting violently upset on the subject!

Dutchman continues to move his everything to Northern Idaho.
His offices have finished construction and his high speed computer line in.
His aircraft hanger no contains most of his stuff from his house.
His son's house if finished and moved into.
His grand-kids love his acreage to go wild on!

All my kids are doing fine, as are their children.
And that about all there is news wise in my life!

Yeah, pretty boring,
Stuck in one place,
With no car.

Oh my car,
GG took it to Fred Meyers and slammed into one of the concrete light pole bases.
I am guessing about $3,000!
So that means 5k by the time they are done with it!
Of course she did not bother to tell me.
I ony saw the front end of the car by accident.
... sigh ...

Just another cost of not being to drive currently.

April 15, 2020

Mistake

When my kids run out of cash and have a reasonable need,
It is Papa to the rescue!

So, oldest daughter wanted to support her daughter's desire to join the cheerleaders at her school.
Grand daughter is a 4.0 student and does not have much of a social life,
So reasonable activity.
But no cash to buy the outfit with!

So, I asked daughter to come and organize my panty.
It is a disaster as GG and youngest daughter both put nothing away!
So everything becomes quickly "lost"!

And she worked hard cleaning and sorting.
Net result:
I can find nothing
Nor can anyone else!

I wanted to make blueberry muffins today,
It took 3 hours of diligent searching to just find the ingredients!
Dear Lord grant me patients!

So today I am attacking just one small area as a start.
Making a shopping list of what is missing
or has been destroyed.

Destroyed?
Yeah, someone scoured my non-stick muffin pans down to bare steel!
Now that took dedication ...

In the meantime I need o find where my crackers have diappeared to!
... sigh ...

Fail Right!

One thing these past few months have taught is how true Murphy's Law is!

Murphy states, "if it can go wrong it will go wrong ..."
And so, this week has gone.

Pick up something, just accept you are going to drop it.
Set something down, just accept it will shortly throw itself off of the table.
Order anything off of the internet, just accept it will be lost,.
Go to be fitted with a custom boot, know that they will not have it in stock.
Do your taxes and remember all you forgot to include!
And in the mean time,
I am learning how to accept failure ....

and on the list grows!

It can be quite frustrating waiting for a return to normality ...

Air Walker

So today is my fitting with an air walker boot.
It takes the pressure off the foor and moves it onto the leg.
Cool idea.
And it has to be easier to walk in than the post surgical boot which drives my nerves crazy!

Currently, you know if I am around.
Ker-thunk, ket-thunk jer-thunk!

So lookig forward to this change!
And .... I get to get out of the house and see something other than another hospital!!!!!

Yesterdays Ghosts

Since high school, I have always been haunted.

At the time, I was haunted by:
The damage I did to two thugs, whom would have killed me
My abandonment by my high school sweet-heart

After college, I could add:
Loss of an almost wife
Causing a terrible traffic accident

A few years ago I was able to get past the loss of my wife and accept her choices in life.
I have no reason to "get past" the thugs, they got what they earned.
This past winter the Lord kindly reminded me about what really happened to my girlfriend.
So, I understand, it was not her choice but her father's I could not deal with.
And the traffic accident, I really played no part in.
But I was part of the problem, in so far as I was speeding.
sigh ....

But several years ago, I slipped up, and trusted someone again.
I was completely transparent, that was our agreement.
I was just not ready to deal with someone I trusted - lying to me ...
To my face ...
Without so much as a blink of the eye!

Around year two, things were no longer understandable to me.
So, when Kris is confused, he turns to Miss Manners.
As usual, their insights were right on target.
Then they deleted me as a friend.
I have no idea as to why.
But that hurt.

I thought I was past all this,
But last night I visited my es-friend's homepage on FaceBook.
Yeah they had quite a few changes in their life,
Not necessarily for the best.
And I felt kicked.

I hate it when people  I still pray for make poor choices.

But, I now know to pray for God to draw them back.
He is good at that.
Even if He has to use a baseball bat to get your attention!

As for me, more time in prayer,
It is my refuge.

Another Month!

Oh gees Louise!
Grounded for another month!
Which really sucks when you consider I have been a shut-n since October 31st!
Rass-um-frassum!

Well, apparently I need more rest and sit time!

I may yet get my nickel collection sorted, mounted and catalogued!

But, time for  a nap .....

Musical Saturday Morning

I was sitting in a sunbeam this week, feeling warm and happy.
Then this song popped on the radio.

Years ago, when the song was first published, I wanted to learn more about the group.
This was back when everyone was on MySpace.
Lead singer, Tedder, was friendly and very real!
He told me they started out trying to raise money to go to college.
Very expensive!

Needless to say, this song and his other string of number one hits, probably got in the way of those plans!

Means Well

I seem to be cursed with less than logical care providers.
I have a Russian whom refuses to talk above a whisper, except when on the phone!
She also refuses to follow the surgeons instructions on how the foot should be wrapped.
So she will only put on half the required drainage collection pads.
And foam cushions go under the foot, not where needed!

The we have a guy from the Cameroons.
I really like him.
But honestly he can't wrap foot.
And his banaging is guaranteed to fall off within hours!
So, GG has to redo his work everyday!
Which makes for a grumpy GG!

Then there is the nurse from Gaum ....
Totally skilled, never fouls up,
But only wants to work one day a week,
And never after noon!
..... sigh .....

And the surgeon keeps ordering supplies to be used which are:
Not available, even as a special order;
Or in quantities which make it too costly,
Or worse yet:
So costly that a single application equals my income for 2 to 3 months!
And that is with insuranxe!
And talking with him, about it, his face just goes blank!

Totally, utterly, clueless!

Well, that is my whine while I sit here wondering if the guy from the Cameroons will even so up!
He is only batting 30% as it is .....

But they all mean well,
You just can not trust them to show up even.....

A Question

So, I got asked a question, since  I had claimed to know the Mama's and Papa's for several years.
Well, yes, I did.
And it was no big deal.
I doubt I ever even mentioned it to my girlfriend!
She was completely lost when it came to pop culture and music!

So, were TMATP's heavy drug users?
Yes.
Though I NEVER saw them take or use anything.
I never saw John or Michelle Philips straight.
Same would be true of Cass Elliot.
Though she could at least function.
And Denny was a hard one to tell.
He probable was off on a toot, like the others.
But he hid it well.

As for the incest issue.
Nope never saw or heard a peep on the subject.
And yes John would have been dead meat if I had!
I have always had my doubts about MacKenzie's tales.

And yes the group got to spend some time in lockup.
Usually just one or two at a time.
Except for the misbehavior in Jamaica.
Where they got charged with "Lowerng the Moral Values"!!!!!
Yeah, when I was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica - I found and oldtime whom filled me in for a cold Lucky Strike Beer.

So, it bummed me out to have to concentrate on their negative aspects.
I like happy stories and thoughts.....

Microsoft Games

So Sunday morning as I lay in bed, I had an epiphany!

Now mouse was not working on my rebuilt PC, nor was the keyboard bufffer!
I labored invain believing this.
I tried everything I knew to address all of the causes for these two errors.
And mind you, it could take three hours just to test one possibility!
But I have no liofe so what else am I going to do?

What I remembered,
Was that MicroSquish likes to play games with their customers.
One reason I so violently dislike any MicroSquish-ish!

Okay, disabled mouse driver ... possible.
Disabled keyboard buffer ... possible.
Now to figure out how they did it!

It took a few hours to see that they had sabotaged Windows 7, because they want everyone on Windows 10 and its Nanny controls!

So, as it is.
I reloaded Windows 7, which forced a reload of all updates to Win7.
Six hours later, I have a Windows 10 machine.
It took another hour to get the keyboard buffer to work correctly and the mouse was just a
reboot or two.

And it works!
Praise the Loard!
No new PC needed!

Would love to tell  you more but I have months of internet surfing to make up for!
!!!!!!!!!

Musical Saturday Morning

I mentioned having a memory the other day:

We had relocated to the Denver area in 1971.
Well, anywhere was better than violence drenched South Carolina!

On my block were some typical teenagers.
John was my closest friend.
His  goal in life was to become a lawyer so as to keep his older brother  out of prison.
No one thought that older brother had  any other future.
 And we were right!

One day I was riding my bike home when I recognized a stranger tossing a football around.
I stopped and introduced myself to Denny of the Mamas and the Papas!

Across time I got to meet the other members of the group.
At least 3 or  4 times a year.
Except for Cass Elliot whom was to aloof to talk to a teenage geek.
It was weird but so was I!
Good times.

Memory Items

Having no memory is so frustrating at times!

I can find myself humming a tune and think, "hmm I ought to post that!".
Of course you would need to remember the title or lyrics to figure it all out.
And, with no memory, well that ain't gonna happen!
But as with this Saturday's post, it took two days but I got it!

It just takes time, far more than it should!
Just like using this damaged PC ..... everything is frustratingly slow.
And has to be typed sometimes for 25 minutes just to geta word spelled correctly.
And my Swiss Aunt insists that my spelling is always correct.
The  trials of having an Aunt whom is a school teacher!

All war protests songs.
Yeah, Kris was and remains anti-war!
But that does not mean I am a total ..... as many have found,
get in my face - expect a poor reaction!

Luckily, it has been years since 'felt they needed to try it.
When you are 6'3" and 180,
with lots of trophies,
You scare most teenagers straight just by wishing them a good morning!

Only once did I have to resort to violence,
that I can remember in the recent past.
A little move that captures a person's nose is quite effective,
if you have strong fingers.

They suddenly calm down and get very quiet,
cause it does hurt.
But it is only pressure - no damage!
And I always felt sorry for victim.

I thought playing with my coins might help the memory,
but I found plenty of coins I have NO memory of,
and I am pretty sure their purchase dates to 2018!
(((((and fleetingly I had a memory from 2014, and then it is gone ..... sigh)))))

Well, time for some shreddies!

March 24, 2020

Puzzles

I have been focing myself to work through word puzzles.
It is something I can do to  try and force at least my English back to mind.
Those first ones were darn hard!
But they  have gotten easier.

Though, they leave me quit exhausted.
All that thinking!
Yeah, one tired brain ....

Satisfying Day

What a great day!a

Up to a gorgeous spring day!
Dressed, ate, made a bologna sandwich - since there are no open places to eat at any longer.
And caught a cab to the post office.

Got my missing aka stolen knife set by the post office!, registered with the postal inspectors.
They get snarly when insist on Federal investigation.
Sorry but that is the law!
Then called the shipper and reported it to them
Guess I was just one of many thefts.

Then off to the coin store to see what is new.
Got  some great gift ideas for the kids.
Then ate my sandwich in a sunbeam.
:)

At the wound care center, I got lots of good news.
The  regrowth of the front of the foot is basically over.
And the heel is down to one inch left to regrow!
So I was graduated to collagen coverings for the wound areas.
This should wrap this episode up quickly.

Then more sunbeams!

A conference on stem cell regrowth,
Starring ... my foot!
Yeah, they were impressed!
Lots of discussion of how to make the regrowth faster!

Yeah, a great day!

March 17, 2020

Yawn!

Three days with NO sleep!
No idea as to why.
Just no rest for my body.

Working on my taxes,
Have to get them in ...
But, his office is up two flights of  stairs!

and of course, i just love taxes ...

Over Reaction

So our worthless Governor put his foot in it again.
You would think that people are desperate to catch this disease.
Please, please, let me get to play a victim!

So, here in King County, everything is shut down!
Need to eat out?
Too bad.
Want to exercise or swim?
Too bad.
Want to go shopping?
Too bad!
Want to do ANYTHING in public?
Too bad!

Youngest daughter somehow got wind of this
and did a big shopping for us.
Just missing toilet paper now!

March 14, 2020

Musical Saturday Morning

On ROKU, is simply thousands of shows to watch!

I sort of recalled the Hollies, mostly because I became embroiled in a family war within the group......

In 1967,NATO dictated that father had to evaluate one of the new transferees from England - and since they had a teenage son, I was ordered to become his friend.

The day went weirdly, the son was a bit of a psycho - he was convinced that a group called the Hollies had stolen one of their hits from him!
Yeah, British rock groups regularly troll 7th grade Germans for hit songs!
And I walked away from the kid and his hang ups!

A decade later, I am visiting with Mark Lindsey, of the Raiders fame, just my usual Thursday night diversion, when a news item popped up.
The kid I had pegged as troubled, was now 21 and had filed suit against the Hollies, EMI Music, and his parents!
Long story, short - he won!

The court agreed, the song was stolen!

Well, I was stunned!
He had been telling the truth the whole time!

And on the Hollies program there was NO mention of any tune called Bus Stop!
Nor Long Cool Woman!  Two of their bigger hits!

Interesting.

Corona

Yeah, Washington has gone into paranoia over the Corona-virus!
As has the world it seems.
Travel restrictions,
Internment camps,
Business closures by the Federal  Government!

And all in the name of a disease with a poorer showing than SARS had!

On the other hand,
My one remaining Cousin in Switzerland died from complications.
sigh

Poor Europe!
Looks like 2020 will be a disease sponsored global recession!

March 12, 2020

Exam

Thanks to the presence of Medicare in my life,
I get to have a governmental medical examination quarterly.
sigh

So my left foot got its exam today!

The doctor was from PuertoRico.
Super smart and impressively ill.
She had a migraine.
I felt very sorry for her.
My youngest daughter gets migraines so bad that she can barely just lay still in bed!
Punctuated by massive amounts of vomiting.
Yeah, blondes can really turn green!

All she had for reference was the original photographs taken back on December first.
And she puzzled over the  foot and the photos for about 15 minutes.
Finally she cleared her throat and quietly commented,
"This was simply nothing less than a miracle!"

She had never seen the results of a stem cell regrowth!
And yeah regrowing nerves may hurt like all tarnation!
But, it is impressive to see a foot where there was none 90 days ago!

So, only two holes to fill in and I can walk again!

March 11, 2020

Cars

In Washington State, if you have open heart surgery, you are condemned to having people run you around for six months!ot
Six months of having to bum rides for everything!
Doctors, hospital, wound care, six times a week!
sigh

 Not that it really matters,

I really am not ready to drive, yet.
But mother is stuck in the middle of nowhere with no one to assist her!
And though I would like to help her, there is just no way.
sigh0as upgraded to the new Dodge offering -

More at home at a raceway
Not in suburbia

Okay, my computer is not restorable!
Dang it!

It is replacement time.
I can limp along for now, but in the short term - I gotta find something.

Try Again

I tell ya, recovering - or trying to recover my computer system has shown itself to be a major pain!

Sometimes it works .....
Other times, not so much!

Too bad it doesn't pay ... this could be a full time job!

So, we will se if this posts or not ....
Prevailing history says, nope!

Face Plant

Urp!

Yeah, Swede and I are both down with some form of flu ... DANG!
Dang Swede for giving  it to me!
Dang whomever gave it  to him!

So, got my repaired PC back but it is not working well.  to the shop
Cursor travels all over, so it is impossible to type even one line!

Back Saturday, but first a backup of my hard-drive!

Inventory

I have spent months trying to organize my coin collection. But somehow, collecting is far more fun than organizing and documenting! Yet, it has to be done! If I am ever to be able to identify and sell off the duplicates. My last attempt was some 2,500 coins done and then "someone got helpful and stuffed them all in a box and I had to start over. sigh Just another example of my being a non-person. [ So, I am thinking of trying again! I just have to figure out an easy way to do it. ... and time! so much to do, so little time! I think I need a nap now.....

January 30, 2020

Aging

I have been going back and watching shows from the 1970's ans 80's. My thought was to see how well they agd. You know, something that old still having something to say or showing that it can still captue an audience. Of course, I watched almost no TV in the 70's and 80's. Just no time. What with the mining operation, working with youth and keeping father's computers operational! Honeywell ... wonder when the last time I even remembered those computers? Such simplistic operating systems - sort of the Commodore 64 of the business world! Except the Commodore is more powerful! I got my first Commodore back when their price fell below $1,000. Back the, I had a buy option on one of those GE/Honeywell 50's. But one never came up on the market. But, as the Commodores got cheaper, I started writing stuff for them. Up until 1992,the Commodores did all I could ever ask. But with the internet, suddenly the Commodores limited memories and processor speeds - left no hope for old technologies! It is why I never got involved in PC's - they evolve too quickly to hope to keep up. Of course, today nothing seems to be changing in the PC world. It has reached the point of customer apathy. To many changes too fast. Without customer buy-in nor input. No product acceptance, No future. Been the rule of computing systems since the 1960's, Still true today.

January 29, 2020

My Precious!

Well, actually I was going to call this food wars ... I have long been interested in eating healthy, Alas, now at four months of not being able to drive, it is hard when no one will do any shopping with you or for you! Two weeks ago I thought I had GG talked into taking me to Trader Joes, lot of health and low salt alternatives to what is eaten around here! But once in the parking lot, the attitude hit! Making it painfully apparent I was being a pain the ass and she would in no way help me get what is needed! So, she did the shopping. Stocked up on noodle based, high salt, high sugar meals! Little of which I can eat! So, when Swede was over last week, I was able to get a few low salt pot pies. Thank heavens, I was able to get a few meals that way. Why not just stock up then? Because the refrigerator is completely filled with half eaten meals! I declared war on their hording of scraps of food about a month ago. But they do not listen .... Mostly because I am accorded NO respect in this house! Now Youngest Daughter has been leaving pieces of half eaten cake laying around. One bothersome piece of chocolate cheese cake on my printer! After 4 days, I threw that piece away! OMG! you would have thought I threw the only thing in world away she cherishes! "Sugar, my precious!" Well, at least she now understands we do not leave food scattered around the house! But of course, I am in the wrong and stand condemned ....

January 28, 2020

Salt

I have not used salt for some 30 years, maybe longer?

I was attending an IBM event in New York City.
Lunch had forgotten to be catered, so we were on our own.
I headed over to an interesting Italian place by my hotel, the Doric.
I ordered my tea and sat back to read the voluminous menu!

The owner was talking with one of the other customers,
Obviously,  a well known customer ....

".... Yeah, I first suspected something was wrong when my long time customers stopped coming by.  These were friends, parts of my family!

"So, I looked into it.  And you know what?  They were all dead!"

"This took more time than I had so, I contacted an investigation firm to give me a run down at how my friends were all dying!"

Okay, he had my interest!

They all died from heart problems!

The culprit?  Salt.

I perked right up!  Salt can kill you?
So, it does seem, though only recently has a direct link been scientifically proven!
In fact, many fatal ailments can now be traced back to the abundance of salt  in our diet!

But, it is sooooooooooooo tasty!

Last night I ate a half dozen eggs,
Some even with salt!
Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now they disappeared far too fast!

Well, I have now forgotten where I was going w this!
gess-Louise!
Me and my brain!

Zippo

Well, my plans for a painting holiday did not come to fruition.
But, I did manage to watch some instructional DVDs!
Sort my painting related library.
Identify about 30 books to sell to the used bookstore.
And I did a bunch of cleaning!

Talked with my mining partner's widow.
She is just now starting to date.
I can understand her loneliness.
Especially in light of her having been with him for 42 years!

Then I got to thinking about my adoptive family.
He was not very wise.
Convinced that she was a fluff headed blond,
He knowingly refused to provide for her should he die first!
So, he did, and other than her own retirement, she has NOTHING!!!!

How does that show love to someone whom shared 65 years of their life with you?

Yeah, for as great of a Christian he was,
He left a hollow legacy behind him.
I know Gaelic Girl now stands to inherit my trust account for my disk drive technology.
It is not much but should double her retirement,
For life.

And I am still working on trying to make it four more years.
sigh ....

Comcast Down

So, were it not that I posted Monday's post on last Saturday, there would have ben NO posts for this week!
Yeah, No connectivity this past week!
So, I called Comcast and asked for their help.

They patronized me.
Told me my computer was the problem.
Apologized profusely when I called them on this classic CYA approach.
Then repeated it alll again.

I made an appoint for my computer with their repair people.

So, I was to be down for another week.
But, when I was shutting down my computer, I accidentally toggled my browser
... and up popped Firefox!
Instant connectivity!

So, computer is back up!
Gees, what a day!

Forth Reich

A friend gave me a number of books before my hospitalization, not realizing I could no longer read!  With the return of my mind two weeks ago as come the ability to read!  Very nice, I love reading.

One of the books was entitled, "The Forth Reich".
For those of you whom are weak on your German, Reich, refers to the State.
Like your Federal Government.
Now, World War Two was fought with the Third Reich.
Hitler's self described, thousand year civilization.
Luckily for mankind, a conglomerate of godless heathens defeated the German forces.
(referring to the leadership, not those performing the fighting!)

Now what most do not understand is that, there has already been a war against the Forth Reich - and the results are a bit of a mixed bag.
In a combined effort, the US, Britain, Norway, and Russia combined an assault first on Antarctica and then on to Argentina in 1947.

The entire effort lacks any formal documentation!
It is all "Top Secret".
Really?
Why, 60 years later?
Nope cover up time, because you see America won WWII!
Hitler was either shot in the head by his own hand, took poison, died fighting in the streets of Berlin or escaped by Junker heavy lifter or submarine! Point is: he is officially dead!

And if he isn't dead from WWII, then America looses credibility in the world's eyes.
And somehow, that is more important than truth?
That is how we ended up with political correctness, what the elite dictate truth to be - becomes truth!
So, we have truth and then there is "truth"!

Not very convenient.

Oh make no mistake, the little war did occur, NAZI forces were subdued, if not utterly destroyed.  But not without cost.  Any you would think that cost documented - NOPE!
But a 1990's investigation found ALL of the suspected Argentinian locations of Nazi sympathizers utterly destroyed.
All antarctic sites are under "No Fly" zones.
Enforced by military jets and rockets!

Is it possible Hitler did escape?

There was a route from the Bunker to the surface.
There was a landing strip at that spot.
There were all 5 of the Junker lifters in town, with their 18,000 km flight range.
All 5 left in mass with virtually all staff, gold treasury and important documents.
And all Junker disappeared from history.

Now father told long ago of:
Having had a flight at the end of WWII from his base in northern Poland to Bergen.
The point of the trip was a U boat inspection of some type.
It is one of those stories of his which does not fit with what we know!

But today it fell in place, maybe?
Just stick in there with me as I piece this together.

So father is taken from Poland, to Bergen.
No idea why him.
To do something unique to him.
That was of value at the time.
He performed his task and was taken home to play cat and mouse with the Russians.
The tale would be meaningless were it not for father remembering the U boat's number!
The same number as a boat now thought to have ferried Hitler to Argentina!
Too weird.

I wonder now if his other odd tale of loading a U boat during an evacuation, was a part of the other tale?
And the execution of the captain.
How could all of this fit together?

Yet father never said anything about what is known about the Forth Reich, nor associated subjects one could wonder about.
sigh ....
So many unknowns .....
sigh

And this inquiring mind would like to know!

Blogging

One hard thing about blogging is thinking up something to write about everyday!
It is darn hard, when your life is as boring as mine has been for several years!
I have often just thought about creating a little routine to create a "Ditto" post for days I don't log in.
Ha-ha-ha-ha!

Well, my weird sense of humor.

I went out and browsed random Blogs like I used to do years ago.

I remember back about 2000, when I first started, the average Blog was by Japanese 14 year old girls, writing about their cats.
2005 saw a move to less clothing and fewer morals.
2010 and Bloglandia seemed to fizzle away.
And never returned.

Yeah I know there are many platforms now, and many more formats.
So, you either have an account with every platform or you don't get to play!

I did get several accounts the various platforms and after one day of trying to browse, I found it was too time consuming!
Life was so much easier with my old computer and its multi-processors!
I could be attending a meeting on one processor and browsing on the other!
Ah, the good old days!

Well, time to get ready for my daily nurse visit!
ciao
