Cable Down

So, darn COMCAST was down for two days!

Luckily I had connectivity sufficient to support RUKO, or I would have gone insane!

End of Terror

Muska, aka Terror Kitty, is the bane of my life!
It is extremely hard not cursing when even mentioning that creature!

She cameinto our lives when I took my Grandmother home after a paerty to celebrate Sasha's 13th birthday.
In a driving rainstorm, I got out of my car to walk Grandmother to her apartment.
Over the sound of the driving rain was this sorrowful mewing of  a kitten.
It took us a while to locate where the sound was coming from, behind a tire of a car.

This little tea cup size kitten was so young it was lucky to have its eyes open!
Ver small, very frail and shaking uncontrolably!
I was pretty sure it was not going to survive .....

Tjhe vet pronounced the kitten healtth,
about five months old,
What is there to say?
The kids voted to keep her!

Later they admitted that the real draw of the cat was that she was an orphan like them.

So across the 17 years we have now had her,
she has developed a few bad habits.
Any closed house door brings howls of rage!
If you do not open that door now, she will hunt you down!
If her food dish gets below 10% full, God help you!
Forget to clean her cat box, and be prepared to wash you bed well that night!
So very outspoken and vindictive!

So by the end of this past weekend,
I had had it with her and her behavior!

And she went off on mr - again!
But I had had it!
She is screaming at me in cat
And I am trying to figure out what on heck she wants!
She had plenty of everything.

Then she hops up into the tub and starte to demand "wild water".
But bending over that low is all but impossible for me!
Then she gets nasty about it!

And that was it!
No more!

I grabbed her by the scruff of her neck,
and meowed nastily in her face as I cared her to her water dish.
Then in she went nose first.

I dropped her
And it was a good feeling ...

Amazingly, she has not repeatef her bad behavior
Nor demanded bathtub water!

So, you can teach an old cat new tricks!

Jobs

Yesterday's post reminded me that for those whom do not know me, you do not know the randomness of my life,

As a child, I just wanted to be in the Army.
And they tied up my life for four years!
Mostly in court trying to get me to kill people.
But I held even as a youth extremely strong views on the question of the value of human life!
It was not a value shared with my friends or family.
I was an odd duck,
With no support from anyone!

Up until I was 21, I held a billion part time jobs.
Lawn care, home repair, camera repair, grocery bagging, race engine building.
What even would raise a buck!
I only slept 2 hours a night back then, so plenty of time to work.

Then I got a job as a programmer in a smalll computer shop.
I hated it.
But, I had lots of free time for rewriting the computer's operating system.
The manufacturer was very impressed and hired me to work on the design of a digital computer.
But, I ended up on a new breed of IBM mainframe four months later.
And in frustration, I rewrote the disk drive operating system.
And created a data base operating system.

MIT was monitoring my work and was very impressed!
Years later, I learned so was the US Navy!
But it got my foot in the big world of technology.
For the next 30 years, I consulted on new technology projects.
And all free time was tied up with youth ministry.

Then came the doctors ..........
Ah, retirement is so much fun!
Doesn't matter how much you earn,
They have special programs to drain off all you have

Days of McLarin

Last fall, I had been excited to see the movie Ford versus Ferrari.
Of course last fall was the heart attack,Aorta rupture and essentially my death.
Not going to forget Halloween Day anytime soon!
And last night, that movie was on the boob-tube!

So, I had to watch it.
Why?
Well, my first job was with McLaren Racing, mic'ing parts on tracing engines.
It was only a part time job,
And paid all of $ .30 an hour!
Yeah the good old days when tiy were just lucky to find a job as a teen ager!

The movie was a fun romp through my memories.
Of course everything covered was prior to my getting on with McLarin.
Carroll Shelby had made his splash on the world racing scene,
But he was a legend!
The GT-40 the fastest car I ever worked on.
Fun times!

The film follows the development of the GT-40,
The interpersonal clashes within Ford Motors.
And a general white washing of some of that history!
Plus an understanding of what happened to Shelby's friend Jeff. (sp?)

I would recogmend the film to anyone interested in the racing era: 1964 to 1969,
Politics of racing,
Or why Ford deserves its reputation as an abusive sponsor.
It is why I have driven either VW or Toyota my why life!

All I can say,
Is that the GT-40 was the scariest car I ever worked on!
It was also amongst the finest cars I ever worked on!
My racing days ended in 1977,
Except for a blast from the past in 1980's when a GT-40 was found in the rafters of a Garage in Renton, Washington!

I was working on a HP system in Idaho at the time,
So on one of my trips to Boise, I diverted for a weekend to the Seattle area!
Arned with grubby clothes and a flashlight, I crawled through this dump of a garage!
And there it was!
Areal GT-40!
It had actually never even been raced!
Rich man's boy-toy.

I got it out of the "upstairs" of the garage.
Inventoried the parts,
It was mostly there!
And the property owner decided to keep the car!
Yeah, it seems Kris works for free a great deal of the time!

Last I heard, it was offered for sale for millions!
(not sure what they were smoking!)
And remains unrunning and unsold!
There are just fewer whom are qualified to work on it, with time.

Good film to watch whether you like racing or not.
GG would not give it a thumbs up since she slept through most of it!
She wanted to warch Star Trek, yet, again!

And, no, the film did not sully any reputations!
Which says something given the deviants involved in the story!

Countdown

I am a product of the age of Space and Rocketry exploration.
Before there was a Gemini or Mercury program.

Buck Rodgers and Rocky Jones were the fill of my idle hours.
So, with the start of the Mercury program,
I got to watch many of the unmanned rocket test shots!

5,4,3,2,1, Ignition! Blastoff!
Usually followed by an Earth shattering BLAST!
Yeah, rocket launches were nothing if not unpredictable.

And the rockets were so small,
Until you walked amongst their smoddering remains!

Apollo 13 was the first f the modern age of rockets I was able to view up close,

My Great-Uncle Leonard had a vibratating chair.
Nestled next to if was huge shortwave radio.
I used to hop into the chair and turn on the news, so as to hear the  rocket laungh.
5. 4. 3. 2. 1 Ignition
(start the vibrating chair!
BLASTOFF!!!!!

It was such great fun!

Thinking

GG commted last evening that Kathy is really getting her world shaken up!

Adjusting to life without her husband of 45 years.
Having to deal with home repairs.
Having to deal with aging automobiles!
Add to this all of her friends are fearful of their lives, thanks to COVID.
And the loss of several friends as well.

Yeah, nothing about this year is very stable.
It seems change is the only constant!
Yet God is in control, if we allow him to be.

I guess, it is a question as to where your eyes are / faith is in  .....
Worry about your bankaccount/wealth/ wallet,
And yeah, you never will accumulate what you seek so despeerately.

Luckily, Kathy is a Christian.
She knows her future is secure.
And if she loses all, She can always live here!
What else are "family's" for?

I have no idea where she would stay.
I only have 1 room,
Natalya only has 1 room.
But FF has 2!

Oh she would squeal!
But payback can be hell!

June 16, 2020

Poor Kathy

Kathy is the wife of my ex-mining partner whom passed away a few years ago.
(sniff!)

Sionce then, she has been hunting guys.
(shutter!)

So, I was not surprised when called the other night.
I have been dreading this call, becuase I a not approving.

Thankfully, it was not the "I captured a guy call"
It was the I am surrounded by fire!

Yeah, Mt. Lemmon. which is her backyard, has a wildfire!
And the fire lines have now surrounded her!

So, lots of prayer need here!

It is currently 107,
everything north, south  and east of her home is on fire.
She lives in a hacienda style home,
Very safe were it not for the flat roof and problem of heat!

So you can stay abreast of her plight under a search for:
Bighorn fire, Tucson
On any browser.

And yes, she is a Christian and needs the prayers right now!

June 15, 2020

Hmmmmmm

Talked with my sister.
She is back from her trip to Iowa to flee the protests in Minneapolis.
So it seems things quieted down in her neighborhood.
Well, Floyd was killed at the intersection by her house!
As a review, her shopping area was burned to the ground,
Including the post office a block from her house!

Of course, she has to drive around the area because the nearest intersection,
Where Floyd was killed, people keep building memorials,
Lots of flowers, photographs, etc.
So rather than risk killing someone walking in the road,
She just drives around it.

Plus, Somer takes after father,
White to the point of her skin being transparent.
Unlike me, whom was born brown-ish.
Think of my American Indian heritage and it makes sense.
Of course, lots of people by think me to be Hispanic!

Which reminds me why Somer fled to Iowa without her husband:
He is of African extraction (nice way to put it?)
And so black that he makes most "blacks" here in America
Brown!
When people have accused me of being a racist based solely on my European appearance (!)
I just show them a picture of my brother-in-law with me!
Yeah he makes me look white!
But, nothing like my sister!

So, thinking she would attract attention to her property, she left, husband,
Whom would be of no interest to rioters!
Not so unlike father's family in the 300 years war,
When the Catholics and Protestants were duking it out:
Part of the family was Catholic, the rest Protestant.
If the identity of the invaders could be identified,
Then that family would answer the door,
The rest hid!

And the castle was not sacked !
Just as Somer's house was spared

Just grateful, this has not spread to my neck of the woods!
I would hate not even being able run.
Yeah, maybe four more month to full healing!
In the meantime, codeine is my best friend .....

Painting

Wednesday, I finally had some time to do a little practice paintinig.
I have long wanted to use oil paints but fear has stiffled me.
It does no help when your Grandmother was an award winning artist, nor that history of her family stretches back hundreds or years with accomplished artists!
On father's side, the entire family is artsy-fartsy too.

So, I decided I would do a picture for my mother for Christmas.
I chose to do a woodpecker.
So, I did nine woodpeckers, with some tragic results!
John Audubon I am not ......
But, at least one of them was a decent bird.
Too bad the rest of the background.
Sigh .....

But we shall overcome .....

More Tests

Oh sigh, I am so tired of doctors!
ARGH!!!!!!!

So, I was told to go see my cardiologist for a post surgery exam.
Well, I kind of was wondering when they were going to examine their handy work!
So duly washed down my torso.

They ushered me in and told me to drop my pants!
WTHeck???????
So the technician explained this was an arterial scan of my legs.
I sighed, found a chair and stripped.
And tjhen he hit me with the jelly!@

OMG!
I thought I was going to die I was laughing so hard from the tickle!
I thought I would certainly lose bladder control if nothing less!
Luckily, he did not linger on the most ticklish areas!
WHEW!

And was it.

two point 5 hours in the door to our the door for a five minute ultrasound!
Sure glad I am retired,
With nothing better to do than see doctors!

This morning was more corrective surgery to keep the regrowth in check.
Front of the foot is almost completely healed.
As is the toes.
Only the heel area needs to complete its regrowth.
Stem cells maybe cool but awfully slow in completion!

Really looking forward to Saturday and no external time constraints!
Gonna redo my painting then .....

Coming Out

No, Kris is not gay.
But I have been living several years now with this dual nature inside of me.
The old one I squashed and stays such through much prayer.
The new me, Kris 3.0 as my  friends have been calling me for the past year.
That is how startling my transformation has been viewed!
And no one has known how to react to it!

..... and it has been years!

So, I finally got family and friends over for a movie night.
Yeah we broke "curfew" and distancing idiocy and a few other "laws" !
I have been compelled to share with them the movie, "Yesterday".
For the past week!

So, I popped gallons of popcorn, we brought out my stash of bubbly water and I started the film (HBO online).
At the 30 minute mark we had to stop the film.

Swede, looked at me and asked if I was feeling alright.
Garlic Girl, burst into tears.
Someone commented, "This is not like you at all!".
So we took at bathroom brake for everyone to regain their composure.

And we finished the film without further comment.

Swede: "Well, no Godzilla found here!"
Someone: "Yeah no lizards died in the making of this film!"
GG, guarded: "Well that was a nice film!", and went off to have a cry.
And everyone left.

So, I finally did it!
I exposed the fully changed Kris to my world.
My heart is free and happy.
I am now at peace after years aching over this!

As for the film, Yesterday:

It was made last year.
Ed Sheer (whatever) plays a role.
Otherwise no one appears that I recognize.
No nudity, no sex, no swearing I noticed, very G-rated.

It is just a nice story of a failing musician, whom wakes up after an auto accident.
To find that no one has ever heard of the Beatles or Coca-Cola.
And now when he performs the old Beatles play-card, he is a superstar.
But he is an honest man and is tormented being credited for John Lennon's work.

Well worth seeing, especially if you like the Beatles.
Or want to share with younger people why telling the truth is important!
I would definitely own this one but HBO films are hard to get on DVD.
sigh

As for me, I am waiting for the repercussions for having shown my new nature.
But, I am so at peace finally that I no longer have to be driven by my old nature!
And it will,  I am sure, be tacked up to a reaction to the surgical gases used on me ...
When my heart had to be rebuilt last year.

Flashback

Remember the 1980's?
Good economy,
Iran,
Carter,
Failing morals,
Failing Church influence,
The rise of the New Age,
and all that was brought with that.

Yeah and a little thing called AIDS/HIV.

I suffer from a poor immune system.
Have my entire life.
You just get use to knowing that tomorrow may never happen.

Suddenly, about 1982, my doctor called me in.
He explained there was some weird blood disorder and wanted to test me.
NEEDLES! ahhhhhhh!
Everything was negative.
My life has always been too boring
Or perhaps too perplexing for an average doctor.

Now I had one of the largest mineral specimen collections back then.
And bought sold and traded rocks worldwide.

By 1984 I was wondering what going on.
Too many of my customers and friends were dying .....
Some of them had been like brothers to me for years.

I went down to a local rock shop to see my friend  John one Saturday.
He wasn't there,
He was in the hospital.
Okay, I diverted to the hospital.
And he was already dead!
Just that fast.

That was how I first heard of AIDS.
John and all of the others had been members of the gay community.
And Kris does not judge,
He tries to live a life that shows genuine concern for others and God's compassion.
And unlike the prior decade of my life,
I started actively witnessing to my "gay" friends.

Few chose to make their peace with God, our creator.
The majority for various reasons chose hatred for their parents and Church get in the way.
"How could God allow this to happen?"
In all I lost 86 friends and close customers across two years.
But, I learned a great deal,
Grew spiritually,
And I do have a few of those friends waiting for me to join them on the other side  .....

AIDS/HIV is still with us today.
But I am less involved in the gay community.
You tend to forget ...

Then this week I had an abrupt reminder.
Someone I care about and pray regularly for,
Told me she has AIDS.
It was like being hit between the eyes!

So, she has known for years.
Just never mentioned it, even in passing.
I have to admit I had wondered how she could be so kucky.

A drug using ex-husband.
And all that goes with that.
Seems she was not all that lucky after-all.
:(

Sad part is, she is but one of two women I know in this situation!
I wish this latest friend had shared this years ago.
I hate not praying effectively.
It saddens me on so many levels.
sigh

So, latest friend is in what appears to be in remission.
The first one is in denial.
Not a good place to be.

So please pray, long term, for these women.
Both are Christians.
Both seem to have a positive attitude.
I just worry for them .....

Musical Saturday Morning

Well, not exactly Lennon's best performance!
But, it is the message that matters, right?

Of course, being the kind of troubled youth I was, I was always starting foot stomping on the bleachers.  Man that was loud!  And someone always would start the word flow (long before rap!) but I do not remember any of the words.  Though it was common to list teachers' transgressions.

Thunderstorm

I love lightening stormss!
And boy have we had them this week!

It started Saturday morning, 9 am, BLAM and the entire house shook!
Immediately followed by another BLAM!
And another,
And another!

For 1.5 hours this place sounded like a war zone!
The house shaking.
The trees and grass blades all lighting up a gorgeous golden color!
The skies grew dark
And the rains come!

Wow!

Probably the best display I have seen in Washington State!

Elton John

I am not muchon making comments about others, well only if they warrant it.
Certainly, Elton John has got some comments due him, but he plays nothing in my life at this time.
This was not always so .......

Now, there was a time when I was living in Colorado, outside of Colorado Springs.
I worked on a new type of computer development with IBM.
Well, that was six days a week.
That left me one day for my passion, as well as weeknights, rock collecting.
And Colorado does have rocks!

I was reading a piece on the scarcity of tungsten, and its worldwide demand.
Prior to the 1920's, Colorado had the the top producer of tungsten.
So, what happened?

South Africa was opened up for mineral development.
Well, if the price of tungsten was going to go up,
Why not see about getting a few of those Colorado mines working again?

Oh, I located a good property, plenty of potential.
But, it seems I kept crossing paths with this Elton John dude!
No he was not looking  for minerals, but a Colorado retreat.
In fact, a working mine was the last thing he wanted to see happen.
Interestingly, the county had zero interest in that either!

So, Elton locked up the entire Caribou area.
Dozed anything to do with the mines on that property,
Dozed the mine dumps,
Flattened the townsite,
and then posted the property!
Problem was, he bought it on a silver claim.
Mining properties are supposed to remain just that.
You can't lock down a mining claim and convert it to vacation playlland!

Unless you are rich, world famous and officials are corrupt enough!

So I was a pain in his backside and visa-versa.

To me he was just another famous cocaine addict.
Wasn't going to live long.
In the meantime, I would get my tungsten rights secured.

Four decades later,
I am looking for something to watch and there is this movie about his life.
Now, no one under 21 needs to see this movie,
Probably those over 21 do not need to either.
But it is interesting to see if you knew him or had to deal with him!

It does lay out his problems, bad homelife and drugs.
It does define why he became the way he was.
Sad part was that God was allowed no place to play a role in his life.

And Caribou did not even exist in this movie!
Of course a lot of other things in Elton's life where either brushed over or ignored as well.

As for me,
I found my father's "dead" family in Switzerland,
And thus began the very quiet and fragile work at seeking them out.
Family is far more important to me than rocks .....

Burn Baby Burn!

Yeah, it is that time of year again.
When the Oregon anarchists gather to burn down downtown Seattle!
And EVERY year the police and politicians are so amazed that it is happening again.
Catching them flat footed, just like the years prior!
The utter clulessness of Washington politicians is just amazing!
In a THINKING society,
Prior performance would dictate current policy.
But, NO, not in Seattle.
We know last year will never be duplicated.
And we all act shocked,
When it does.

So, as I am typing this on Sunday,
Bellevue is burning,
After being looted by a professional gang.
They had been warned this would happen!
But they made no contingency plans.
It took three hours just to call the National Guard to ask for help!

Seattle at least took the precaution to fortify one of the police stations,
But no others.
Amazing.

It was almost humorous seeing all of these rioters struggling with arm loads of clothing!
As if they they arrest was a complete surprise!
"But it was just hanging there,
And I wanted it!"
Of course their argument dies when their phones are all linked to their eBay accounts and they are caught photographing the clothes which are NOT in their sizes!
"But, I am here protesting for George, these thefts add to our argument!"

Yeah, one of them actually said that on film!

eepah!  People are stupid.
Of course if they are mostly visiting from Oregon,
They may be more stupid that usual ........

Sorry no sympathy .....
Except for George's family whom are being humiliated by the protestors behavior.

sigh

Continuity

Blogger's announcement of a new release has me cringing.
I hate wasting my time re-configuring my account and/or machine to whatever they have played with in Blog-landia!

Back in the 1980's I had a contract with a Venezuelan oil company to create a standard architecture for system's development and design, a big part of the product being the need for regression testing of the new software to prove transparency to the new user.
It was extreme fun because no one had ever done so definitive a process before.
And the fights we had!
With developers in Vietnam, China, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Mexico and the US, communication  was a difficulty!

As I thought on this, I realized that the movie industry really needed this on a scene by scene level!

Watching so many movies lately, I observe areas where this is needed:
Actor walked through a door and next scene, enter a room and the actor is now much thinner or fatter!  Or even pregnant!
Like you are not supposed to notice!
How about you are wearing green and next scene, you are now wearing blue!
Or there is lace on the outfit but missing in the next?
Or shoe changes while riding a horse?
Better yet, you take off on a nice chestnut colored horse and arrive on an American Paint?
And I loved the one where they took off on an English saddle and arrived on a Western roping saddle!

But this also extends to more "modern" movies.

In war movies, many WWI movies feature WWII Mauser rifles.
And the Germans would have loved to have had G/K-42's in WWI!
They would have won the war!

Worse is Hogan's Heroes, where the Germans are armed with American Krag rifles!
There was a reason the Krag was so short lived!
But apparently, good enough for TV audiences I guess.

(My foot is throbbing really bad right now, which makes me think of TV audiences)

Poor Jackie Chan has the worst of luck with injuries!
So many of his films he has had to finish in a cast.
Yet, they film anyway, like no one should notice the huge leg he now has!
Or foot.
Or how one arm now dangles uselessly.

But, I love how "injuries" move from scene to scene too!
Yeah, shot in one leg, limp with the other!

Well, enjoy your next viewing of a movie and count the errors!

New Blogger

So, today is the new Blogger release.
Historically this means I will be locked out for a few weeks!
So, if so, just know I am working on whatever is locking me AGAIN!
Of course, I am hoping that they have done their testing and it will be transparent to all of us!

I would like to say more but, the house just had its monthly ant spray down and I am out of here!
