Cooking

Cooking used to be a big part of my life.
I started when I was 8 years old and never stopped.
My first Blog was for my kids and about cooking.
But my health failed a few years ago.
And I took down that Blog until I could have time to make it healthier.

But, it has been 4 years now since I was in the kitchen.
I really did not mind the stroke taking my memory.
But, I am frustrated that I have to learn to cook all over again!

It seems Kris in the kitchen is now an invitation to disaster!
My first eggs  this year - utter failures.
Even a grilled cheese sandwich was beyond salvation.
Yeah, too many Wendy's take away burgers to compensate for disasters, as the house airs out.
sigh .....

I used to breeze through a meal of almost any complexity or size.
At least up to parties of 30 or smaller!
Today, I have no clue how I did some of those recipes!
My notes carried an assumption I was not as clueless as I am today!
sigh ...

But, with practice, I conquered the grill cheese sandwich last week.
So, being the daredevil I am, we did a repeat performance and added ham!
Twin successes!
So, I am thinking about making Rosti for the grandchildren.
It is just fried potatoes.
What could go wrong?

Postscript:
Youngest daughter had dumped bacon grease on the burner I used.
Of course never telling anyone, nor cleaning it up!
Stove naturally caught fire.
House filled with smoke.
Wiring is gone in the stove now.
As are the burners!
And I have to buy more Baking Soda!

Of course, I do not need that until I finish rewiring the stove top.
sigh ....

Cooking!
ARGH!

In the meantime, I am seasoning and cleaning my cast iron collection.
Until the first of the month and I get my monthly residual award for my lone patent.
God has surely blessed me with those fees!
Yeah, it might only be about half a cent per disk drive made, but it does add up!
:^)

I may never get my cooking site back up.
:^(
