Time for a reality check. You know you better than anyone else, so the following questions should be easy for you to answer about where you are in your walk with Jesus ...
Mark 6:14 - 30
What can you say? Herod orders the head of John, the Baptizer, head to be lobbed off! And I think we can learn from Herod's failure ...
Do You Have Unresolved Sin?
In your past?
In your present?
Due to our own hard hearts, we are incapable of recognizing our own sin.
We no longer can heard God's quiet voice.
But we can make this right through confession of this sin to Jesus.
Are You Flirting With Truth?
Or embracing it?
Herod listened to John, the Baptizer.
Herod was spiritually curious.
But, in the end, Herod rejected John and his message, for his own lust for his brother's daughter.
Have You Gained The World?
Power, possessions, position.
Herod had it all.
But, if this is what you seek, you will lose your soul.
Do You Live To Impress People?
Well, we are supposed to be loving God, not worrying about status, pomp and circumstance!
Herodius wanted John dead for speaking against Herod and her sin (Herod had taken his brother's wife and married her! Once Herod divorced her and she returned to her first husband ... ugh, Roman politics!)
But, Herod is torn. He likes John, but now due to the public demand for John's head, he will lose face if he does not kill John.
Herod is trapped by his own lusts, sin and loose talk.
What Is Your Legacy?
Will it be one of honor or shame?
Well, if you are reading this then the jury is still out on this.
You have plenty of time to turn our life around and put your feet solidly on the narrow road to God.
