I have long been a Godzilla fan! I have seen all of them so many times it might qualify me as a nerd. Well, I am, sigh.
Unbelievably, I was able to make a pre-premiere showing of the Godzilla, in 3-D, on the IMAX screen, with an audience of about 40! It was awesome!
Computer graphics have come a long way baby! As with most 3-D movies, it was wasted on Gozilla. There was really only one startling sequence of a seagull that made almost all jump! Certainly, Swedish Rocket Scientist sure did the next day when we went back to see it in 2-D on a regular screen.
I think I really missed the man in the rubber Gozilla suit stomping on buildings however. He was always so fun in a series beset by fakery. The story line is pretty good, borderline values but nothing that should keep a pre-teen out. Heavens, my grandson spent most of a day going RRRROOOOAAAARRRR! and trying to eat the dog, cat, toy cars, stuffed animals and my prize Taco Bell dog, best know for saying, "Here lizard, lizard, lizard ... I should have gotten a larger box!" And, then running away. :)
Storyline has little to do with previous Godzilla movies and they had to try and work in stuff from the other Godzilla movies because I guess they felt it would not be a valid movie without it. (Pssst! You Hollywood types really need to learn how to write a story that can stand on its own!"
Numerous holes you could flip the Titanic on. And the own nuke sequences ... really? Public knowledge in 1969 was far superior to what the writers chose to show here.
Be that as it may, it was an awesome movie, an owner and I love the current Fiat commercials!
As with most movies, your company is 90% of the entertainment factor.
