Take No Responsibility

So, a quiet night, trying to sleep with the muscle pain from that hit and run I was involved in two weeks ago.  And my sugar numbers have been a might high, which means everytime I finally drift off to sleep - I have to get up and go the bathroom - YAWN!

Except at 2 am, that one was a have to go to bathroom but never make it back to bed because - KABOOM!!!!! - car accident.  We get at least three a year on the road above us on the hill.

The screams of a female could be heard, a male was calling for help, other voices, non-distinct.  Grab a flashlight, the cell phone, the camera, kick on shoes and lumber up to the intersection:

And the mess!  The road covered in debris and car parts everywhere.  And no one, not a single person to be found.  Eerie.

Yeah, they made a run for it.  The cops said the car was not report stolen, so they were waiting at the house to see if the kid(s) show up.  The hospitals were told to watch for auto accident injuries.  And the real question, where did the other car go?  Were they racing and hit each other?  Was this a head on?  What ever happened, the people all went somewhere, as did one of the other cars and yes it had been wrecked as well, too many auto parts spread around.

But this is the culture we live in.  Do not take responsibility for what you do, run away and assume blame will not find you.  We see it in our government, our religious organizations, the lives of friends and perhaps in some extent in our own lives as well.

Unfortunately, people get hurt, as I was three weeks ago when I was splattered by a hit and run driver, and we do not have laws with a sense of humor.  Just as the driver whom hit me will be caught probably very soon as my little army of eyes watches our streets, so these people will be as well.  Heck between fingerprints, blood and car ownership here it is only a matter of time - DOH!
