Until Later Gene ...

I have posted twice concerning Gene; one a prayer request as he was dying, one a praise because he suddenly "came to" (call that an answer to prayer!) and now again I write concerning him, one of the men I have trusted, admired and respected during my lifetime.

Unfortunately, this time it is to report on his death.  It is to be rejoiced that Dutchman and his wife were able to visit him for a little over a week and reacquaint and be family.

I have always contended that all human's days are in God's hands.  From the moment of your birth to the moment of your death - all prearranged.  What happens in-between is sort of up to you - God's way or your way - even if sometimes He uses a bat ....  And today was Gene's time to return to God.

And here is where I agree with Sinclair Lewis, and the only point upon which we agree:  We are told that at the cross, one of the condemned would be in Heaven THAT day.  We are told that we will ALL face the judgement seat of the Lamb, in a mass gathering.  But, mankind has been dying for millennia ... yet ALL appear at once - no one waiting for the last to die to face Jesus.  Hmmm.

Sinclair postured that this would only be possible if God were outside of time, outside of creation, only then could all in creation, across millennia die and yet all arrive simultaneously at a destination.  Well, makes sense to me anyway.

And so though Gene has died today, never to be seen by me on this earth again - his next recollection will be of our meeting in the next moment, even though I die in 35 more years (possibly).

Yeah, Gene will be missed, especially by at least one of his children and the Dutchman.  And by me, we shared a very sly form of humor ...  :)
