No Show 2016

So, for over a week, we in the Pacific Northwest have been berated by a never ending stream of political garbage - to the point I am exhausted even listening to the utter tripe they are spewing!  And the dire warnings we are about to be whacked by the storm of the century ...

Of course, the eastern seaboard of the United States has been wracked by a hurricane, with lots of photo opportunities - and everyone wants to be the next victim of whatever is in the news today!  Gees, utter morons!

Now we are warned that this storm will be every bit as bad as the Columbus Day Storm, circa 1963 - actually a typhoon which passed directly over Portland, Oregon.  Want to guess whom was there?

Yeah, my father was teaching a class on bad things, to people whom do horrible things, during a period of terrible stress in the world community ...

So, I got to experience 150 mph winds first hand riding my bicycle to our home.  I got to see huge trees toppled, homes destroyed, even a roofing single pass entirely THROUGH a telephone pole!, and a beautiful Lincoln convertible utterly flattened by a telephone pole.  Driver lived so it was way cool.

Luckily for me, I was rushed off to my grandmother's to sit out the week.  Grandmother's place was spared any damage.  However, where we live on the bluffs above the Willlamette River in St. Johns - well yeah it was beaten up rather badly.  The winds to the sides of the eye of the storm were awesome in its power.

So, I knew what to expect, I knew watching the NOAA long range radar - that nothing like this was headed for Seattle.

My children were all freaked out.  I just told them they should have a weeks worth of food on hand anyway, water anyway, candles anyway, popped corn and 7-Up on hand to watch the storm!  And to stop worrying.

Of course, I also tried to do the same with my friends whom were going so far as to flee to Oregon to get away from the storm of death.  Yeah, they almost died when Manzanita, Oregon was hit by a tornado!  I called up my mother and told her when that happened ... nothing ever happens in Manzanita, my mother grew up there!  Very surprising.

The best response was from my youngest daughter:
